Did anyone do this or is it even possible? If so how did it go?

Why bother? We already have an antenna in the rear window.

The one in the rear window is a secondary antenna. It's only used if it can pick up better reception than the primary one mounted on the rear passenger quarter panel. That one will pick up stations the best. I don't think the one in the window can pick up AM, either. If you check the defroster lines, you can see that there are a few lines that aren't connected with the rest. That is the secondary antenna.

No you can not use a heating element for an antenna. They (the antenna in a window) need to be a certain length in order to operate properly and I don't believe even if you could connect the heating element that it would work..Just buy a S2k antenna and you will be fine.

Youre not using the secondary since you got da alpine bumpin'.
The correct length for an FM antenna to receive the best reception is 31".
