This was kind of a strange event...somehow about 100 people showed in an area that's not exactly an autocross hotbed. Tons of first/second-timers were there. Unfortunately, with limited daylight, the large number of entrants meant on 3 runs.
The site had some decent size, but a weird surface. There were sections of nice asphalt, but also some pretty bad bumps, some areas with a bunch of weeds growing, and some really gravelly, loose stuff. So that, coupled with cool weather and 90+ runs already on my Kumhos led to some unpredictable grip.
This was my first event with the Konis (front only)...they most definitely made a difference in the slalom...that was one area of the course where grip was good. We entered it trucking at about 60mph, heavy braking, then acceleration through the increasing spacing. My car was truly awesome through there...others commented on how fast I looked thru there. In low-speed, tight stuff, I don't think the shocks really make a difference. On higher-speed, quicker-transition stuff, they do. I also think I had more stability under braking.
Anyway, I managed #2 in PAX...I'm sure I could have had #1, but I really pushed it too hard on my last run...cones everywhere.
