Should be moving there soon! Hope there are a lot of Celicas around. Also, I will be in Raleigh(without my car :-( the week of Dec 7 - Dec 15, so if there is anything going on let me know. I have a bunch of other friends down there and will be going out for sure, so anybody else is welcomed, plus I can check out your cars! So if you want any further info, or want to give me any feel free. (EX) Cell numbers, or if there is anything going on. Hope some of you are interested, I'm up for anything. Thanks

Dave

Why are you moving down here? Job? Where in Raleigh are you moving to?
/End 20 Questions ;)
Glad to have another celica enthusiast here :). Dunno what I'm doing around that time but I may be up for something.

Wow, not very friendly peeps from Raleigh. I posted that and you are the only one that responded. Yeah Job I hope, just want to get out of NY. It might end up being Char. But I want there or Raleigh. Well if you are free let me know, I have been there like 3 other times and we always go out. Yeah, there are not many celica people around here in NY.. Glad you wrote. Keep it up!

We're pretty friendly, but we're probably having trouble posting.

This is the first post I've been able to make since the meet due to the forum server swap.

Anyway, welcome to the area. Even if there isn't a 'meet' planned I'm sure you can always get a group of locals together to hang out.

To everyone else... I'm post some meet pics soon.

I don't usually use this computer so I have to work out a few bugs first.

Welcome to the area, that is if you move here. We are glad that you are a Celica Lover as we all are. I hope to see you soon. Oh by the way, Raleigh is very different compared to NY. So enjoy your time in NY, and look forward to some awesome times in Raleigh. Hope to see you soon!

Wave!
I moved here from Buffalo in 1979! A few pieces of advice to make the transition easier:
1. Be prepared to SLOW DOWN! It's a much less of a stressful, go-go lifestyle than you're used to; i.e. don't blow your horn at people if they don't immediately pull away from a green light, etc. (here the horn is used as a greeting, NOT as a prod!) Things still get done, just in a more relaxed way.
2. Don't constantly tell people "that's NOT they way it's done in ***" Learn the way things are done here, accept the differences!
3. Don't laugh when people complain about the traffic problems, just having to come to a stop on I-40 is considered a major traffic jam.
Same goes for snow, accept the fact that drivers panic at the mere mention of the word, and flakes in the air will shut down most businesses and empty the grocery store shelves of bread, milk and beer. People here have no business trying to drive on snow or ice, so just go home with the rest and stay there where you'll be safe from the others who don't.
4. Prepare for roads that are poorly marked and expressway entrances that make no rhyme or reason as to how you enter, just learn to memorize most. Get a local map as soon as possible, (realtors and banks have them for free if you ask) you'll need it to figure out which Chapel Hill road is the one you need...
5. Major weekend entertainment for the under 21 crowd is to drive in slow circles around Mall parking lots or the outlying town squares, called "trolling". No real purpose except to see and be seen...
(Not a lot of nitelife places here)
6. Some of the best weather anywhere, but it does get VERY humid in the summer. Leave your boots, snow shovel, snow tires, heavy winter clothes behind. (Also the gangsta style stuff, shorts and T-shirts are high fashion.)
7. Automotive activities are VERY popular, NASCAR, local "bull ring" stock car racing, drag, roadracing, autocross are very strong. Street racing is heavily frowned upon, a ticket for 15 over the speed limit will automatically cost you your license for a year. Get your out of state plates changed IMMEDIATELY, they are cop magnets.
8. When looking for a job, the classified won't give you many leads, businesses here are so used to not getting responses to help wanted ads that they don't bother. Figure out what type of job you want, then check around for businesses that use that position, go to them early in the day and ask for an application (go with a resume and dressed/prepared to interview immediately), most will be glad to take your application. What type of job are you going to be looking for?
9. MOST OF ALL: leave any ATTITUDE behind! Most here are down to earth, friendly, and polite! Strangers smile and greet each other in passing...

RLFlipsyde> Actually, we just had a meet a couple weeks back. Sorry we didn't get the word to you in time.

That was our second meet. We probably won't have another one until March or so unless some big event comes up that we all want to attend together.

I also have a TRD Exhaust, white grill, and PTuning on my side mirrors and a yellow "Got Rice?" sticker on the rear side mirror. Holla at me NC people.
