I dont get it.. For example, I believe Road & Track lists a GTS 1/4 at 15.4 I believe. And people here claim thay they can run a second below that. I find that really hard to believe. I can see with some good mods maybe a 15.0. Do people here really run mid 14s? If so is it due to variances in altitude, coldness, humidity, etc... My best time which I mentioned earlier is a 15.3 with my 01 6 speed GTS with AEM Cai. I believe I can beat this but maybe 15.1 tops. Any thoughts on this..

It should be possible, but altitude and track conditions can make a pretty big difference.

I, myself ran a 15.0 stock and last ran 14.8.. so it's easily possible.

The magazines don't always get the best times. Several magazines have quoted the GT-S as having a 7+ second 0-60, while MotorTrend claimed a 6.6.

I personally ran a 6.8 on the G-Tech with an extra passenger (150 lbs.) and a full tank of gas. I haven't made any measured 1/4 mi. runs.

The latest issue of sport compact car got a time of 8.0 seconds to 60 mph. They wrote that their was a problem with the rev limiter, which gave it a bad time. This sucks cause if someone reads it , it sounds like our cars are the slowest things out.

My best time on my gsr was 15.6 with a shortram intake... mag times for the car is 15.5. I guess it just depends on what track and who runs it. MT also did the gts at 15.2. They've done the rsx at 15.4 and 15.1. It's just different... I'm just gona keep practicing til i'm the best.

I mean more like. Can people beat the time by a complete second? Sounds kinda far fetched to me..

I think sometimes magazine take the average of the runs.

haha, you don't believe that the celica can get low-mid 14s, are you joking or what? there are a few celica driver on this board that can do it and it has been proven already, to name a few, icyjaws, billybrun, larryd, myself...well there are numerous of videos and timeslip to prove it, its all about driver, i guess you still have to learn how to drive your car. Going to the track takes alot of practice and it can be frustrating at times. Alot of people get mad when they go to the track expecting a good time, just go and do your best and if your best is not good enough to get low-mid 14s then you have to practice and practice some more. The mag driver can't drive worth crap in my opinion. Sometimes they don't push the car to its limit. On the celica you have to push the car to extract all the potential power. The celica is one of the hardest car to drive compared to other cars like type R, type S, etc...We have to worry about the reverse gate from the 1-2 shift whereas on the type R and the type S there isn't a reverse gate to obstruct your 1-2 shift, the type R is one of the best transmission I have driven, you can shift really fast in that car from 1-2, it goes in really smooth too, i drove my friend's type R and on the 1-2 shift i always land at like 7000 rpm with ease, its amazing what lsd and a good transmission can do. But back to mag times, if they let one of us take our car there and drive it, i bet we can get better times then them cause we know our cars more than they do. Well if you still don't believe that celica can get low-mid 14s, i'll send you some of my videos and billyrun run of 14.1 and numerous timeslips. Lates

Mags will never get times as fast as regular drivers do. People do track prep. Mags do not for obvious reasons.

0-60 and 1/4 mile times vary widely due to track conditions. Only Americans are obsessed with these figures. The best run I have ever put down in a GT-S was 15.0 @ 93.5 mph on a car with an AEM intake. And this was with the wheels spinning and hopping like crazy. The track I was at had worse traction than a typical public street. I could have taken the same car at the same time out to the street nearby and run a 14.7. On another day at the same track, the best I could pull was 15.3 @ 90.5 mph when it was extremely humid outside. There was a Camaro SS running 14.1's, which you know is high. So don't put so much stock in what magazines say about acceleration figures.

shoot, my first time at orlando i hit a 15.8...pssft
then the next time i hit a 15.4 stock. that was even with a bad start.
last time i went i was still in the mid 15's with the mods. but it all depends. that night there were alot of new guy's there driving in the burn out area and slipping down the track, and when i staged i hit there water tracks when shifting into 2nd... no traction... oh well, im sure if i could hit the launch i could nail a 14. shoot on the street the car feels faster to 90+.

alot of it also is practice.. I dont think any of the guys who are running the best times ran like that the first time they took their car to the track.. figure its like hopping in a car for the first day you drive it and take it to the track.. thats what the mag does.. kinda hard to a base #.. the only thing I like about mag track times.. is if I see them get a really good time out of the car, that means its possible for me to do the same if not better :)
