Speed Limit

What is the definition of a speed limit. Meaning how many feet before the sign you allowed to change your speed. Got pulled over for going 37 in a 25, yet when the cop claims he "got me" I passed a 35 mph sign. Going to court on Monday to argue this junk out

If the judge feels your being smart (or generally having a bad day) he could always say you were going over the 35 limit too. You can probably get it cut down to a fine with no points though.

Can't face the fact that you were wrong huh? If there was a 25 mph sign, it most likely was a residential or school zone. The sign applies to the entire area until a new sign saying otherwise comes up. There's no "radius from the sign" where you must slow down. You were speeding, take it like a man.

I don't know what the law is in Mass. but in NY what I have been told (by a couple of cops) is that when there is a speed decrease, say from 55-30, there will be two speed limit signs set so far apart from each other. It is in that distance you have to slow down to the new speed.

The cool thing is how they space them apart. In most cases (not all) they are spaced so that if you are going the speed limit and let off the gas at the new speed limit sign, by the time you get to the next sign (the sign where you must be at the new posted limit) you will be going the new speed limit with out having to use the brakes.

What are you talking about man, he said he was NOT at fault. Pigs will do anything to raise there quota. Hide in bushes, hang out were the speed limits change, get on your bumper to make you speed/swerve, lie.....think about it man, there job is to srew you over. The more the better. Last time I got pulled over I was talkin real softly, I was hopin the cop would stick his head in the car to hear me better, at which time I would have grabbed him in a headlock and stomped the gas.

I see a problem here. Contrary to what you believe, not all cops are "pigs." Just because you and some other people have been pulled over for no reason doesn't mean that EVERY cop is like that. Sh!t, I've been pulled over 5 times and I have only gotten a ticket once. I hate it when people just automatically start bashing on the cops. You weren't at the scene when the cop pulled him over so you can't be 100% this is how it went down. You better thank your lucky stars that cops(upholders of the law) exist otherwise it would be chaos.

That has to be the most ignorant statment I have ever heard. Upholders of the law huh? Just because you got lucky a few times does NOT mean that they are not pigs. There are plenty of cops that are complete ****s and will lie throught thier teeth just to make some BS charge stick.

There is a lot of jerks out there, unfortunatly some are also cops. There are some good police officers, and there is definetly some bad ones.
