View Full Version : Warrenty GRRRR....
i have had my celica for about 6 months now and i have a 3 year warrenty, for up to 50K miles....
I want to add a Injen Cold Air Intake to my car but a few of my friends said it will void my warrenty, some of my friends said it wont, and some said it will just void my AC warrenty....i'd like to know the truth, does anyone know?
P.S i also asked my dealership, they didnt know, and the service department said it doesnt void my warrenty, but the TRD shop in the service center said it does,

It will only void your warranty if the dealership service center can prove that the intake was the cause of the problem.
They may easily say the intake caused it so they can get themselves out of fixing whatever, but ask to have them put the reason in writing.

Correct. Sucking up water and hydrolocking your engine is about the only thing it will void.
so what about a short ram intake, can that hurt the car at all?

Not really. Unless something happens like your filter falls off and the engine dies from sucking in too much dirt. Just do a good install and you'll be fine.

Be happy your warrenty is for that long. Mine is only for 36,000 miles and I'm already at 32,000.. AND I've only had my car for 2 years!! :( :wtc:

Also.. Make sure to clean your intake filter, because if you don't it will ruin your sensor. Ask S.Menchavez about all that.. ;)
2 years, please I had mine for 1 year and I am over 3,600, glad I got the extended warranty though.

if you have problems with the car just take the intake off before bringing it in for service.. warranty really depends from dealership to dealership, some dont care but some do

What do you mean..it'll kill your MAF sensor?
I just took mine in for a check engine light..and the serviceman blamed it on my Injen CAI...
He said that oil (from the FILTER) had accumlated on the MAF sensor.....and basically ruined it?
He reset the check light for me...and I'm gonna have to get it replaced apparently..
Something about running -9 under fuel trim?
WTF does that mean..and does this sound even remotely possible?
Fill me in!!

Well, when I bought my car I asked them about this, I was told that if I got the intake professionally installed, then it would not void the warrenty, but if u get an exhaust installed the exhaust system warrenty is void. They also told me that it depends on the dealerships, some of them are asses and some are more easy going. Best thing to do though is to keep your stock parts and stick em on when u need something fixed, just to make sure.

Larry is right. I've gotten numerous warranty jobs done with my shiznitz on my ride. It depends on dealer to dealer. I am about to get my throwout bearing fixed under warranty with all da shiet i got on my ride and the dealer is giving me a whole new clutch this time. I had to fight for the warranty this time though because a$$hole dealer did not want to fix my car just cause they have fixed it like three months ago. I had to seek Toyota Regional Representative and he approved it right at the spot after looking at my car. (i had all that shiet in my car, and him and I were BSing about F & F and other Import BS).

Thanks for clearing that up. I just blew my engine from a mis-shift so that's what I mean by paying for itself. 3rd to 2nd instead of 4th is a REAL b!tch. Funny thing is I got it on tape too :(

Yes it happens. Happened to me. I have the Gen 3 Injen CAI and it killed my MAF the thing was black with dirt and stuff on the sensor. Since my brother works at Toyota he got me a new one under warranty, but had he not worked there and they saw the CAI they would've made me pay. Man I've gotta stop racing :D
