this will no doubt warrant a form letter from them but nonetheless this is how it went:
To whom it may concern:
Blitz North America will soon start selling its Celica Supercharger Kit in the United States. To this I say bless you! This kit will undoubtedly be the shot in the arm that the 7th gen Celica aftermarket needs. However, upon reviewing your site associated with the United Kingdom, I can't help but be a little worried. I understand that the standard of living is higher in the UK, in turn causing higher pricetags for every item purchased there. I also understand that the rough conversion rate for the kit ends up being an astronomical seven thousand dollars. Now, after seeing the difference in price between the UK's Supra single turbo conversion and the US', I am a bit relieved. Please understand though, that even the ratio of difference still leaves the kit at roughly 5500 dollars, still far beyond many enthusiasts' budgets. Exclusivity is one issue, price gouging is another. Sure it would be nice to have one of a hundred supercharged Celicas in the nation, but I would sacrifice that exclusivity (as would most others, I'm sure) to have the price in the same ballpark as the comparable Vortech kit for the Civic Si. I say comparable in power return, which I now wish to address in a much shorter paragraph.
Please do not short us on power output. Emissions restraints surely do not necessitate a twenty horsepower reduction in total output. 260 horsepower in the JDM kit versus 240 HP in the UK kit? Does that mean the US will see even less, as we usually do? Say 230 or even 220? I am no business major, in fact I am a communications major who hopes to at one point have a Public Relations career in the import industry (internships, anyone?), but it is only common sense that makes one see that a $4000 dollar kit (or less) will sell circles around a 7,6,or even $5000 dollar setup.
Please give me some good news. Whether you browse internet message boards or not, I don't know, but should you direct your interest towards www.newcelica.org you will see the uproar this is causing.
Thank you for reading my sincere and honest albeit longwinded plea,
Josh Poole
