im looking to buy a ss for my02 gt. the problem is i dont want to pay the high price for the trd or b&m. ive seen numerous ss's on ebay for relatively cheap prices like in the $50's. my question is how reliable are these? i dont want anything to snap on me while im racing.

TRD ss wont fit 01 + Celicas. you CAN make it fit tho. By removing the stem itself and inserting it into the stock assembly

There are two short shifters on eBay: one that will fit, and one that won't. My friend got the one that didn't. The pivot ball was too big for the housing. Some other people here have bought these off of eBay, and I've only heard of one other person who had this problem. Wish I knew what the auction for the non-fitting shifter looked like...

I've got another alternative. I was going to by a short shifter, but then my other half gave me an idea after I bought a shift knob that attaches with set screws. Why not just cut off an inch or inch and a half form the stock shifter? Voila...short shifter. So that's what I did. I know it sounds kind of Mickey Mouse, but I liked the feel of the stock shifter. I wouldn't recommend it if the stock shifter was mushy.

dude thats not the point of a shortshifter, its to shorten the throw of the shifts not the length of the shaft. plus bigger rods are better.
