S2k Theft

Does anyone think it would be a bad idea to use a powerful glue to keep someone from ripping the s2000 antenna off? I have this clear glue that dries like cement, and I thought about dipping the part that screws into the car in the glue before attaching it. The glue is so strong that when the top bolt broke on my left TYC light, I just glued it to the car. It isn't going anywhere so I figured when the glue dried my antenna wont go anywhere either!

You would need a conductive adhesive. Honestly it's not worth it, buy a spare antenna, they are only $18

You should be using Threadlocker or Loc-Tite only.

You don't think goop, or some crazy glue would hold it better and keep someone from jacking it?

BTW: You cant see it on the light- and it did hold the light for about a year now :headbang:

honestly, why anyone would want to steal an $18 antenna is beyond me. i've had mine on for a year and a half and no one has yet to touch it.

i had my first one stolen and when they ripped it out, they stripped the thread on the housing... so instead of buying a new antenna housing, i just glued a new s2k in there. reception still works like it used to.

I was also thinking of etching my name in the antenna so when i find the person that took it in my school i could call the cops on them. Not too many celicas running around here.

Don't make it hard to steal....
If they want it.. they will take it....
They will even damage your car to take it...
If you use some super strong glue and they just got mad and damage your antenna... to fix that it'll cost more then $18...

I've had mine for 2+ years now, and no one's touched it. Oh and I lived in Queens for 2 of those years and believe me when I say lots of people steal there. :(

every borough in NY has their bad areas. All of the bronx, brooklyn, manhattan, queens, etc aren't bad area, but their are parts located in these areas that are just plain sleazy. Same holds true for any major city. what part of queens were you in?

I was just playin. I know of Queens but have never been to NY. I think you are lucky to not have had anyone mess with your car. The fact that I call that lucky, is sad. I was just looking for some pointers cause where I live- anything that is not bolted down is ripped off- and that includes antenna. Believe me, I wish I didn't have to give theft a second thought.

Damn that sucks about your neighborhood. My old house in queens wasn't in such a bad area, but I drove sometimes in places where it was. I would drive as fast as I could to get out of those areas! :)

Yea, don't glue it though, because if they want it bad enough and you superglued it down causing them to not be able to remove it, they may damage your car because you pissed them off. There's some messed up people out there looking for any reason to vandalize, as you know. Besides, if they do break it off the mast, you will be left with the part that's still glued on and that would be a pain to be removed from the mast, especially since its glued on permantly. Good luck with it bro. Don't let them get you down.

yea i thread locked my antenna on my celica... and no i don't have a s2000 anthenna... its much more nicer =D
