Usually I would search for this info but I am really cramped for time. What engine maintenance needs to be done before going F/I...I am not talking about upgrades like pistons and rods but more on the lines of a "tuneup" I am interested in the Stafford kit but I want to make sure the engine will be in top form before hand as to ensure its longevity. Thanks for any info.

Change your oil every 2000 miles and get every scheduled service. Invest in a turbo timer.
You should be ok.

Well maybe I should rephrase what I was asking...I have a 2000 GT with pretty high miles (dont know exactly) and I have kept up with all the maintenance and I have not had one problem with the car except for a bearing going bad in 4th and 5th gear...I had the tranny rebuilt with all new bearings and synchros in every gear. What I am asking is should I replace anything else (gaskets, seals, MAFS...etc?) in order to make sure the engine is running at full potential and also so nothing is going to let go as well as getting the full potential out of the turbo. I wouldnt be asking this question if the car had like 10,000 miles on it...but considering I am up there in miles I have a few concerns.

well if you have as high of mileage as what it sounds like all that crap should be changed weather you go f/i or not

ugraded clutch and press plate is a good idea.

change your plugs

change your engine and tranny oil (go synthetic) (and get a new Toyota oil filter)

flush your coolant system

Get your throttle body cleaned and get a top engine clean / decarbon done as well - I reccomend GM Top Engine Clean, but BG is OK. Make sure you get the in tank cleaner as well as the vacuum line one.

get an injector flush and start running Chevron premium

clean your MAF

clean your engine and fix any oil leaks.

Flush your brake fluid (& install SS brake lines if yoiu have the $$ its a great upgrade)

make sure your brake pads are in good shape for all that power :)

Thats about it - you will get a new air filter with your turbo kit so thats covered.

how important is a coolant flush? how do you know when its needed, how is it dont? sorry for all the questions, just always thought this was one of those things mechanics like to charge you for that really isnt that necessary.

its something that should really be sone every 2-3 years or 60K - the thing of it is coolant doesn't really go bad that fast, but it does seem to get slightly corrosive if its sits in an engine too long. Water pumps start leaking, radiators start to calicify etc. Its hardly life or death, but considering the added heat load that will be imposed by the turbo its probably a very good idea. Its one of those "cheap insurance" type services.

MAF - Mass airflow meter.

As for clutch - contact your turbo kit provider for a reccomendation - I think most of the guys are going with the ACT though.
