I was reading in this months issue of SCC. On pg 56 it talks about a guy that was disappointed with his dyno run on the K&N dyno, (545hp)because a couple days prior he had made 700hp on guess what dyno...XS. They go on to say that the "K&N dyno has heavy rollers, which makes for a fairly long pull compared to the quick sweep through the powerband on the Dynamic Test Sytems dyno at XS. I just mention this because there was some speculation that XS dyno might be rigged or off. I mean 155hp is alot to lose from one dyno to another. And I doubt he changed much in between the few days of the dyno runs.
Comments?
P.S. I also know that elevation, temp, etc can effect dyno runs considerbly, but again I think 155hp is a little much

Interesting. I wonder which one gives a more realistic and real life result?

well elevation has less of an effect on a turbo car
we're all gonna find out at the dyno day !
I CAN'T WAIT !

you're joking right?? You might want to edit that;)

elevation will always play a part in performance. MY car ran like $hit in denver, even with the turbo.
Im really starting to wonder about XS' dyno. I was missing 30 HP from one to the other, and they are both Dynojets.

The turbocharger also helps at high altitudes, where the air is less dense. Normal engines will experience reduced power at high altitudes because for each stroke of the piston, the engine will get a smaller mass of air. A turbocharged engine may also have reduced power, but the reduction will be less dramatic because the thinner air is easier for the turbocharger to pump.

If you really want to compare dynos you've to use both cars/setups/whatever on one and the same dyno at the same time.
So lets wait until the DynoDay and see which kit gives the best power and torque curves. I don't think that max power will differ too much between the kits with likely a similar setup.

I have emphsized the importance of the DynoDay for a very long time now. Everyone here share this same about its importance but without cars showing up, it's not going to be worth having it. So far SF is the only one who is going to be sending cars to the event. gnes100 has also volunteered to dyno his Blitz SuperCharger powered GT-S. I have no confirmation from the XS or DA camp informing me that they will be at the event. Honestly I don't even know what date to set it because I just don't have enough cars to support a date for Le-Toy to set aside.
GUYS... WHAT SHOULD I DO?

read last months issue of SSC i believe it was, where they had a "UK only" ford turbo focus and you will see how elevation took so much from this car. The editors consentantly reminded the readers about how the elevation was hurting performance.....when out of elevation they said it was a whole new car.

confused...but I think i know what you're saying. But im pretty sure the guy is SCC had the same setup for both dynos as he was preparing for a contest. If I had run a 700hp dyno theres not too much I would be doing to change that. And if he did change something minor im sure it wouldnt have thrown him 155hp back. Also you will never get the same read out on two identicle cars that are setup, ie two GT-S with SF kit because its been proven some motors are better than others. Then there are other factors..blah, blah. So i exspect to see a difference between different dynos..max20hp and thats alot..but yet again....not 155.
I got the payment..thanks;)

Sorry Rich, if I had a FI car and lived on the west coast Id be there.

XS did a baseline dyno and then a after dyno. If it's rigged then the baseline should be higher as well.
Dyno's are for tuning and comparison with the baseline. How much HP you make is irrelevant...

I had my schedule cleared for last Saturday. Remember when I replied to your PM a long time ago that I was gonna do my best to make it? I thought that was enough notice, which is why you put me on your list of probable cars. I can never guarantee anything, though, since my other obligations (work, school, etc.) take precedence over all this. Keep in mind, it's not easy for me to just drop by. I'm hella busy, and Bakersfield is a couple hours away from me.
I would've been there if you kept it on the 7th, like I said when you decided to move it ( http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=119869 ) I don't know if I can come on the 21st, though. What I might be able to do is get a dyno run at Le Toy on another day this month when I have more time. Will that do? It'll solve the issue of dyno-to-dyno differences. Also, SAE correction factors should compensate for slight temperature differences, even if I dyno on a different day this month as the other cars, right? That might be the best I can do at this point.

The post wasn't directed to you brol. I know you tried your best to make it to event, and I'm sorry that I had to change the date but I had no choice. What I meant was that I had no commitment from XS (Troy - Operations Manager) about being at the event.

What do you think of my idea to come on another day, in case I can't make it to the shootout? Would that be useful at all?

Yeah definitely. Hopefully it will be on a day that is before the dyno shootout. That way I can share the graphs during the meet. Let me know when you want to come down. I think it's cool... what do you guys think? Will this satisfy everyone's curiousity as to what the XS kit can put out?

Yes!! Do it keyshawn. Thanks Richard for all the work that you have putt into this. Looks like we might finally be able to compare the two kits on the same dyno!
