When you rev match, are you supposed to down shift to neutral, rev match, then push on the gas? Or should you push the clutch in, rev high, downshift then push on the gas?

When I revmatch it looks something like this:
1) clutch in.
2) downshift and rev engine simultaneously.
3) clutch out.
it all happens very quickly, maybe in a second, but no more.
that sounds about right
just smash your foot on the gas and shift.

Whenever you downshift, you should rev match to avoid jerking. Think about it, if you are going 4000 rpms in 4th, that is easily 5000+ rpms in 3rd......so before you downshift, blip the throttle to 'match the revs' because you must match the engine speed with the wheels before you release the clutch...that'll give you a smooth ride.

It also reduces wear on the synchros. The larger the jump in RPMs, the more stress on the synchros to get into gear.
