i hit a curb with the right side of my car and i have gashes on both front and back rim on passenger side of the car. i was planning on getting the rims powder coated to gun metal since they are chrome now(i know i don't like chrome anymore either) anyways i figured since the rims i have don't come in gun metal i would get them powder coated to be a little dif. anyways is there anyway i can fix the rims. could i have the shop that is going to powder coat them grind the rim down so it is no longer scratched then they could powder coat them.............any ideas?????

for all that work and money you should just sell them on ebay and buy new ones

you can get the rims repaired, and it cost around 100-200 a rim.

for that price just get new rims. Maybe they'll cut you a deal since you're powedercoating them but chrome rims are heavy. Save yourself some money and order some new rims :D gluck

if you sell them as a set. yes. but i would only buy curbed rims for the winter. and at that, they cannot be bent at all. your price for them AT MOST should be half of what they costs since they are used and curbed.
The powdercoat will fill up the scratch.

ive curbed my rims twice...not too bad though..i just smoothed them down so i could paint them later..
try taking a file to them...dont make the gashes any bigger..just smooth down the ones that are there

There should be rim repair shop around your town....
They can pretty much fix anything.. even chuck of the rim rips off...
Hardest part of my rim was touching up the coating.. since it's anodize... there is no where in town that can do touch up anodize...
But other then that.. power coat, paint, etc.. can be done and will pretty much like new..
Only thing that they can't fix if you damage the rim that it throws off the balance of the rim...
Dents, scratches, chunk ripped off.. etc are ok..

i will have to check around town. i live in a small town so hopefully i can find something. you think the powerd coat wopuld fill in the scratches. if so i have afriend that does powder coating. they will be heavier than normal gunmetal rims but be a lot cheper and easier then trying to sell them and but new ones

theres a company called turbax. www.turbax.com that does really good work and they have a 24-48 hour turn around, real fast and real good. if you decide to go with them call the Pensacoa Location and tell them david from timeless motorsports recommend them to you.
