Is it just me or it cost alot to power a sub completely?

Like Audiobahn AW1200X 12" sub.. it should run 700RMS to be at the maximum. (<)200 bucks

So that means i have to buy 1400 watt to power it completely?
About 700 dollars

Some one correct me if i'm wrong.. oh and if i get an amp that has less rms out put.. how does that affect the sub?

You don't HAVE to power a sub at it's max rated RMS (continuous) power handling. That should be used as the upper limit of power you apply to it.

Why do you say you would need 1400W to power it? If the sub is rated for a max of 700W RMS then get an amp that produces no more than 700W RMS.

oh.. cuz i saw that the 1400watt amp said its max rms is 700. and i noticed the rms is always half ot the watt. oh well i guess i'm wrong then.. ok so it isn't too expensive.. thanks!

oh and if an amp has 2 channels, and i use both channels to run a single subwoofer? will the wattage be added? like say 300watts per channel.. will that equal 600 watts to that speaker?
