Ok so my wheels that i'm gonna order soon have a 42 offset. will these fit without modification? will i need those spacer things? The wheels are Tenzo Passion 5's in Gun Metal. Thanks for the help.

Offset is the distance from the centerline of the wheel to the mounting surface. You're only 3 mm off from stock (the centerline of your wheel will be 3mm further inboard than OEM), so I wouldn't really worry.

YES!! I just got mine today. I put them on, not even thinking that they need any modifications. Put the car into reverse and it wouldn't budge. Then put it in first, getting the same result. I had just installed my SS today too, so i took apart the center console again, thinking that was it. No problems. Looked at the wheels and they were pressed right up against my front calipers. Took them off, and I had rubbed them against the wheel causing some scratches to the rim. I was sooooo pissed. I'm going to call him tomorrow because I had assumed that these would fit perfectly. So right now I look like a drag car because I have the stocks in front and the rims in rear.

That is really wierd because one guy on this forum told me a while back when I first ordered them that he had a 43mm offset and they only rubbed the tires on the wheels well when he pulled U-turns.... Also the GT-S is supposed to have oversized front calipers and that was a concern. I see that you have a GT so I'm not sure why you are having a problem. The difference between 39mm and 42mm is 3mm which is a little shorter that 3 quarters stacked together. I stuck the end of my finger between the caliper and my 16in stock wheels and it fit. My finger is fatter than 3mm.... I'm at a loss as to why your wheels are rubbing. Do you know what your stock offset is? Maybe the GT and GT-S have different offsets. Did he send you hubcentric rings? The only bad thing about using spacers is that they can't be made hubcentric. That will cause a slight virbration. You will only notice it when going 80mph or above. I have heard of people shaving the caliper a little to fit the wheel. It wouldn't hurt the caliper and would keep you from having to deal with any vibration. layaygts has some passion 5s on his GT-S. I will ask him about it....

Hm... I thought someone posted a few times that the offset was 35mm. So which is it? cuz he was pretty sure it was 35.

If you look at the stock 16 in wheels on a GT-S they are 39mm offset.... I don't know about the GT..

The aftermarket wheels certainly are shaped differently from the OEM, so looking caliper clearance of the OEM doesn't really tell you anything. It's believable (albeit surprising) that those wheels rub with 42mm offset. I supposed it could even happen with stock offset (which is 39mm for GT and GT-S).
Similar to something that happened with autox wheels I bought a while back for my GT-S...knowing that GT-S "standard" wheel was a 15-incher, I order some aftermarket 15's for autox. They didn't clear the front calipers, despite identical diameter, width, and offset to OEM...the shape was just different enough to cause some rubbing.

I'm still scared. Did you call Ivan? What did he say?
This is gonna suck. Must i pick new wheels now? I don't want to rub.

Ok its all cleared up. Just talked to Ivan. it turns out the spokes on the Passion 5 is too fat. and now tenzo is 1 day airing you some of the thinest spacers to correct the problem.
Dragon Frog, Ivan is shipping you spacers ASAP. Next day air. don't worry help is on the way. He got you message and tried to call you but u weren't there. hope this helps.

If you get spacers the wheels won't be hubcentric and may shake at high speeds. I hope they turn out ok... I spoke to Tenzo and they said they were sorry and that the wheels were mostly designed for civics. They didn't compensate for the calipers on the celicas. He said you can shave the caliper a little and that would work too..
