And the new color

Notice the lights are painted to match the exterior...
I can't believe they would spend money on the last production year of the 7th gen to design a new action package. :thumbdown

dammit i was just going to post that.
Celica Action Package
The new Celica Action Package model features more aggressive styling for 2004. The latest Action Package includes foglamps, color-keyed headlights, clear lens combination lamps, and tailpipe surround and tip. Also, the front and rear bumpers, side rocker panels, hood scoop, and rear spoiler have been redesigned to provide Action Package models with a more distinguished look.
The base MSRP for the Celica GT with Action Package ranges from $19,355, for models with a five-speed manual, to $20,155 with an automatic. The new base pricing reflects an increase of $375, or 2.0 percent. The Celica GT-S Action Package carries a base MSRP of $23,930 for models equipped with a six-speed manual and $24,630 for the automatic, reflecting an increase of $395, or 1.7 percent.

Wow this came out of nowhere. I like the new rear, not to overdone, sides are ok. The front is kind of like the Cwest bumper, it isnt too bad. The wing is like the TRD sports M spoiler on roids, I wonder how much more downforce does it add? Some tech documents about the new rear and spoiler would be nice.

So they did away with the top bumper opening completely? Looks a bit strange. I wish I can see the body kit in a different color, though.
And do the color-keyed headlights come in all colors? The yellow color-keyed headlights are nasty, but perhaps not as bad in black? Yucky side skirts, too. The wing HAS to be b/c everyone wanted the Molly wing.

They should release the TRD Sports M bodykit overhere and the Super Strut front suspension.

02-24-2004, 11:41 PM
ugh, that just looks totally gay! I mean, the front looks too plain and unagressive. Plus where the front emblem is placed, where the hell is an opening? It looks way off being solid.
The rear looks KINDA nice but it doesnt fit the overall flow of the car. The headlights look pretty good. But the new clear Meatball Tail lights have to go.
I aint feelin the new wing. Hands down, the old styling was better.

I am planning on seeing more riced out celicas now. I like the colors though. Looks like they are competing with the rsx with colors. I hate the sides and wing, I like the front and the rear. The rear tip is a UGLIEST thing that you would buy from OBX..

Weird..
i hate the color keyed headlights on that yellow.. looks nasty.
I think those taillights are the JDM ones someone here had.. those definitely need to be smoked by bat..
I kinda like the wing.. looks like the sports M wing which i've always wanted.
the kit itself is okay, nothing spectacular. i prefer aftermarket ones.
anyway, i'm done w/ the celica.. bleah.

Dreamer.
Anyways- theyr'e stupid- have you seen the rice options for the new scion that isnt released yet? the 10 shift knobs, the fact that they'll put neons in your car from the factory, the "lighted" cup holder? They're going too far in the rice route. It won't be cool to put anything neon in or outside your car (this means for shows too).(and yes i know tons of us hate neons anywhere)
Oh well, they suck.

front bumper...has ...no opening? would wanna at least take that symbol off. It looks like it could kill a dear...
side skirts make me wanna break em
the butt is ok...but doesn't go too well with the rest of the ricer look.
The wing is one i want too...so ya, can't wait till they are out and about and everywhere...
the tailights are a bit ricey..but i can't complain, i like my meatball tailights *shrug*

SOME of you guys make me laugh with the "I can't believe Toyota did this..." and the "Celica...meh", shiat. You're giving Toyota a bad wrap because they made a NEW BODYKIT for the Celica? You're giving them a bad wrap for the same thing almost every single other Celica owner has done, which is put a new kit on it? It's not like every f'ing Celica will come with THAT kit. It's an upgrade...just like the old Action Package. The fact that there also putting out color-coded headlights is a helluva lot nicer, easier, and probably higher quality than ripping apart your own lenses to do it yourself. I definetly remember a huge post and lots of oohing and ahhing over the idea of painting them. Since they're color matched, I imagine that means you'll be able to get them in carbon blue, red, and all the other colors, which will DEFINETLY look a helluva lot nicer than stock. The additional color gives the Car a more sophisticated look, and I've already seen PLENTY of RSXs in the same colors driving around to know that plenty of people like the color.
Granted, the kit isn't exactly my style, but some of you guys act like Toyota putting out a half decent kit is the end of the world or something. The kit doesn't look THAT bad...the rear is nice, the wing is nice, the sideskirts are very similar to whats out there for alotta cars already, and the only thing bad about the front is the fact that there's no opening where the emblem is. To be honest, that little opening doesn't do jack to begin with. The only thing that makes me wanna puke is the rear taillights, but Toyota STARTED the Altezza fad...so this doesn't surprise me at all. It shouldn't surprise any of you either.
And when Toyota comes out and says...Yepz..we're KILLING the CELICA this year..then I'll freakin' believe it. Until then, you guys are just spouting out rumors and lies.
One thing that pisses me off the most about this site, is that it's filled to the brim with people that are constantly talking smack about the damn car. This is the only freakin' car site that I've ever been a member of that has it's own members dissin' it, and trying to convince others not to buy it. I don't even see that on the Neon sites! And I'm not even talking about the SRT4, I'm talking about the base model Neon sites!!! It gets so tiring hearing the same spam from the same people all the time...if I had a Celica still, I'd be highly inclined NOT to even come to this place at all for Celica help. :jerkoff:

Well, I like that kit a lot... in fact, I might say that I like it the most out of all the kits I've seen for the celica (except the tail lights). Hopefully, once these come out, that kit wown't be too expensive. In fact, you'll probably be able to buy the kit (and color-keyed headlight parts) painted from toyota.

Totally agree.
We all appreciate some of the shortcomings of the Celica, but I think for the money there's no better car. And that's even the case in the UK, where we pay DOUBLE what you pay for them.
I know this isn't the thread to discuss that, but it's just astonishing to find so many haters amongst the owners. This forum has just got a bit too cynical for its own good. Surely a new kit shows the Celica hasn't totally been abandoned by Toyota - hence reasons to be slightly positive? No?

No, smartazz, you're taking that outta context and you know it...why would I want you to say that? It's not anything other than a Celica, who said anything about it being the "GOD OF ALL CARS"? Did I say that? Did I say it was the "GOD OF ALL CARS?" I don't remember asking you to tell that to me..thanks for giving me the option to tell you "NO, I don't want you to tell me that!"
I don't expect people to be all nice and sugary and say it's the best damn thing since sliced bread. Because it isn't...it's a damn car that has it's strengths and it's weaknesses just like any car. I'd want people to be objectionable about it. But some of the people on this board take it too far...they say things just to repeat themselves and make themselves feel smug for being proud of the fact that they're trading in, or they're buying a different car. If you' were on another car forum, it'd be different, people might back you up, slap you on the back and say "Wow...see..you're so much better off for leaving that pile of shiat behind!"..and they'd love hearing about how your Celica was a POS, etc...bla bla.
But you're on a forum filled with OTHER people, people that have been with their Celicas awhile, or have just purchased them, or sold them yet still can be objectionably truthful while at the same time respecing it for it's abilities. People that might actually get tired of having idiots that have already moved on, hang around just to lament the fact that the Celica is such a POS to them. If you're here just because you used to have a Celica, but you feel like hanging around and informing everyone else of this, please take this opportunity to...nevermind...I'm getting really blown up over this.
But, anytime anyone says "Celica. meh. The car is crap, it's a POS, I wish I never bought it, it sucks, it doesn't have an aftermarket, yadda yadda yadda." all I ever think is "Wow...you're an idiot for buying the car. I'm glad you ended up paying a buttload of money and finding out that you hate it. I'm glad it was a pain in the azz for you, and I wish you nothing but unhappy thoughts anytime a Celica goes by."
I'm glad the Celica was such a POS for you, because you deserved it...

I'm not being a smart ass just using one extreme. Most car forms that over glorify the car would mention any weakness or quickly dismiss them and any one who uttered them. It matters not if some one says its a pos or if its a rare gem. I would be more concerned as to why they said it.
To make a long story short, I would rather see the light and dark side of the tunnel as opposed to just seeing the light.
BTW: Thanks for not blowing up.......................

The point is, the people you just described...that's exactly what I LIKE to see....the light and the dark.
That's exactly how a car forum SHOULD be. But those kinda people aren't who I was talking about The people that tick me off are the people that I described up there...the repeat offenders, the ones that just badmouth for pleasure...just to say "Meh. Celica. Meh."

maybe this means the price of that style of wing (molly-esque) will go down. and the hoodscoop too.
tail lights are kinda iffy but then again i guess they are the "in" thing right now (or maybe they need to be slapped with a "welcome to last eon" picture).
the question is, can you get color keyed headlamps + HID option? me personaly, id rather spring for the black HID housings instead of color keyed. something about them just doesnt look right (like the turn signal part). they shoulda just made it black haha

problem is that lots of people here want their celicas to be 350 whp cars, and they then in turn are very unhappy people... the fact is that there are plenty of turbos now for both GT and GTS that make Celica damn fast sport(y) coupe, with almost unmatched handling... at first, everyone complained that there isnt enough support, now everyone complains turbo is too expensive, wtf, you pay 3.5k for around 250whp and it aint enough? Then we constantly hear how Toyota has no support for Celica.. when they go out and do a new body kit, with color matchin headlights - thats bad too.
Most people just like to ***** and moan too much. Maybe if they didnt spend money on stupid things (ICE?), they would have enough money to buy the damn turbo kits?!
It is obvious that Toyota didnt forget about Celica, and I think they have learned few things from Scion on how to support their products in the future...

I disagree. Painting the inside of the headlights black is good.. Painting the inside same color of the car is ugly.

You dork. I own one. I was being sarcastic...I thought you were playing around 'cuz I said that if you ***** about another car on a different car's forum people would slap you on the back and give you a thumbs up. :wtf:
I didn't mean it literally. Although I will say they're NOT SOOOO much better than a Celica. Stock, they'll never touch the feeling of a Celica on a tight twisty road. Maybe with alotta work on the suspension, but the steering is just too different from the Celica to be even close. But then again, the Celica will never have AWD, four dours, and scare the bejeezus outta little old ladies as you bear down and stuff their rear mirror full of those crazy azz headlights. Well, at least the one in black scares 'em. :chuckles:
Chiz, what I meant is that if the headlights can be sold in the same color as carbon blue, it'd be nice to get a professionally painted set that looks good. Besides, crap like that is all about opinions. You might think it looks good, others might look at your car and say "Who the heck would paint the inside of their headlights?".

Amen. I couldn't have said it better myself. The kit doesn't look that bad at all, with the exception of the headlights and the exhaust tip, but I think the people in charge of marketing over at Toyota know what they're doing.
I took a picture of those new tail lights this past weekend at the auto show, and they are alright, they aren't flat like the '00-'02s, I don't know how the '03s plus are, the brake lights just out a little farther than the reverse/ and signal...here's a pic if imagestation co-operates...just ignore that guy that stepped in front of me

in my opion i think that is good that toyota did somthing different with the celica in its last yr of production because eventually all of us u know will be getting that stuff just like everyone and their mother got the action package. the new colors dont seem to suit the car but ohh well what can we do. the front looks ok, would look good in black but i hate how they got rid of the opening all together. the sides look like rod millens but a new version. the rear reminds me of the new veilside but a lil more on the sleak side. i like the new wing. thats all i have to say about that. i think that all this new stuff would only look good on a dark color aka black or carbon blue, but they made a big mistake putting all that stuff on a yellow one and trying to market it that way cuz thats probably goin to make people not want to buy it. ohh and the ugly exhaust tip.... i think toyota ran outta money making the new kit that they went and bout a bunch of cheesy tips from pepboys. aite well thats my opinion if anyone even wanted to her it.

There are so many great colors they could've used, like metallic red (like that widebody TRD Celica  ), or S2000, IS300, or T Sport dark metallic silver, or a dark blue, etc. The last beige Celica I can remember was in the early to mid 80s. :ugh:Originally posted by GTS-POWER

I think the designer's goal for the 04 Action Package was to tone it down. The previous action package was loud and aggressive, it got ATTENTION. The new kit just adds a little to the lines of the current model/facelift. I do not like it because I prefer very aggressive styling. They are hoping that this new action package will appeal to a wider audience.
It's a shame that the majority does not care about performance or aggressive styling. We are the MINORITY - let's face it. We are enthusiasts, and we are not and will never be a target market for cars such as these. It's still not as boring looking as the Acura RSX, that's for sure.
I've been seeing a few Neon SRT-4's on the street lately, mainly BLUE and SILVER. I must say, these are aggressive looking, much more than the new celica action package now.
The problem with Toyota: They don't want to be different, they want to be emissions friendly and appeal to the masses based on marketing studies.

Thanks, man...I appreciate the sentiment. I can't wait to get to Hawaii, because my life will finally start rolling again, instead of being stuck here waiting for it to begin again. Hopefully, I'll be fully healed and back to walking by the time I get there. The UK has been a bad experience for me, just cuz of what happened. I really wish I could have enjoyed it the way I could have, but my injuries keep me from going out and seeing the sites. The only consolation, is the fact that Bobbeh & Andy are such good people that they've given me some good memories of this place.
As far as the Celica goes, I used to own one, and that was during the early years, when there wasn't CRAP out for except an intake and maybe some springs or the TRD exhaust. It was very frustrating back then, because there WASN'T anything like they have now. Hotchkis didn't have anything for the suspension, and there were no T/C or S/C to sit back and wait for. What ticks me off the most now, is the fact that there are TONS of modifications for the car, and being FWD should not be the limiting factor that everyone thinks it is. I know now, after watching video after video of the FWD cars in Japan, to know that FWD can be, and WILL be just as fast, if not faster than some of the most amazing RWD & AWD cars out there. I've seen FWD civics that hand AWD GT-R VSPEC-2's there azz...and the GT-Rs are track tuned machines.
It's all about driver skill, and tuning...tuning...tuning! I'm seriously considering picking up a GT and toying with it. I know exactly what I would do to it if I had the chance, and what parts to use to get the job done. It sickens me that NOW, we do have the parts, and the know-how to get the job done, and make a Celica one of the best handling, highly competitive cars that it can be, and yet people are dissing it like its a POS or something. Which is total BS. The Celica has great promise, and has some of the best handling in a FWD vehicle...it's engine might not be the most powerful out there, but it has promise..
I mean, c'mon guys, think about it for a second...How many cars out there now have the same engine that is lurking beneath your hoods? Whether you own a 1ZZ or a 2ZZ:
1. MR2 Spyder
2. Corolla
3. Matrix
4. Lotus Elise
5. Celica
I mean..that's a TON of cars that share the same engine...with MINOR, VERY MINOR differences in tuning.
If you think there's not any applications out there now for your car, you can damn well be that there's going to be a SHIATLOAD in the coming months. I personally am drooling at the thought have getting my azz handed to me on a road course by a properly tuned Celica. I will GLADLY accept an azzkicking for the opportunity to see it.

i or a member of the family will probalby drive the celica until its wheels fell off, but i'd like a RWD car.
u cant deny that FWD isnt a handicap when it comes to motorsports. there are few FWD cars that will perform as well as the civic u talked about
case in point: the hotchkis celica... they put a whole suspension on that thing and it lapped quicker than the stock evo rite?
what if u put a whole suspension on the evo?

you are talking in very simplistic terms here...
Sport Compact Car tested Hotchkis Celica TVS as well as all other "sporty" cars for sale in the USA (and some not for sale)
- Celica w/ Hotchkis TVS

Skidpad: 0.93g
Slalom: 72.3
- Impreza STi Project car (tuned suspension)
Skidpad: 0.94

It might not have the most power out there and it is not an ultimate drag car, but when it comes to track it is FWD car to beat and overall a fast machine... FWD is a problem when it comes to putting down the power, it should actually be faster on track than AWD (proven)... AWD comes into its own on ice, snow and heavy rain, as well as putting down the power.
Kind of funny - Auto Bild (largest German car mag) had an article on FWD vs AWD for the same cars, and FWD Audi A4 3.0 was faster on track in rain than AWD Audi A4 3.0... even though in 0-60 AWD was faster by 3 secs in rain...

I still think the stock fishy look is hideous.

Err..Not my style. Actually, I haven't liked any of the new looks Toyota has done recently. A pure black 2000 GTS with TRD Springs is the perfect look to me.
More colors, the better.

I like the sides and the wing better than the previous action package.
I think they tamed down the rear. The previous rear I think looked more agressive.
The front is not bad. I think it will take time to grow on you. I didn't really like the previous action package front. I like this one better.
And yeah, they might as well throw in the TRD wheels with the action package. They are JUST metal. Not really worth super high prices. With TRD you are just paying more for the name.
