Motortrend March 2002: 220-HP RSX Type-R arrives within a year.
My comment: Toyota, wake up and smell the market. Celica GTR please :)

That just might happen with the next Celica. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Knowing Toyota, it'll probably release a "sports" version of the GT-S by simply increasing the rev limit back up to 8200 rpm, making it essentially a 00-01 GT-S ;)

HAHAHA.. i could see that happening.. actually it would prolly be raised back to 8200 and give the car 10 more hp.. thatd be it :)

You remember last year how we talked about them sayin there were no plans to bring the Type-R over so that they would sell alot of Type-S cars? well, we were right.

Hmmm, I dont know. I dont doubt that the R will come over but I dont see it happening in the 2003 model year. Just me, but MotorTrend is wrong more than it's rigth about these kind of rumors.
One Acura Dealer - who shall remain anonymous - told me that the car is scheduled to arrive late 2003. Early 2004 at the latest. Haven't read an article that makes me have to have the car, though.

ehh... i like custom solutions... sure its lots of $$$$... but its like buying one of those kit houses... do you really want a million dollar house when there are 17 like it around you... i'd rather buy a half a million dollar house and exand it the way I want.

^^ This is assuming of course that the Type-R will be well in the 30s

larry and I were just talking about this. I dont think it will be able to sell very well when cars like the 350 Z and RX8 come out (assuming they perform the way they are supposed to) if the RSX-R is too expensive. I am sure there will be more like those cars too, creating big competition for the RSX

I'm pretty sure the RSX won't be more than 30 like NSX GTR was saying, cuz those cars and the EVO 7 and STi...

Why would it be near $30,000? I assume it would be to the Type-S what the previous R was to the GSR. Only a couple of grand more. No more than $25,000.

When the old type R was out it didn't have to compete with cars like the WRX, EVO, rx8, 350Z, etc. Since those cars all will or will probably start at less than 30k there now way acura dealerships will be able to tack on another $3k over msrp for the rsx type r.

or maybe theyll drop the price on the S and have the R slightly higher then where the S is now?

i'm really skeptical about hearing things from dealerships. in my experience in shopping for an s2000, i have heard this and that about the s2000 line ending this year next year blah blah blah. there was even one dealership that had the nerve to tell my dad that there was a v6 version that was going to be released in the US. that was a bunch of crap. honda dealerships don't get any information on vehicles before they are released like toyota dealerships do. for example, one dealership didn't even know that changes were being made in the 2002 model (this was in aug 2001). since acura's a branch of honda, i'm expecting the same even though acura's their luxury line.
