As seen in Hot Version # 49 with Keiichi Tsuchiya & Manabu Orido...has anyone else seen this vid? I did a search, but didn't see anything on the C-ONE Celica that they use for rallying. It's the white one that looks similar to the white Castrol Supra design with the huge 4 headlights on it.

Anyways...just finished watching the DVD for it, and it got STOMPED by the Type-R...but for a good reason. It was fully spec'd out for Rally only, and it was obviously apparent that all the Rally prepped cars lost to the N/A cars on the touge battles...hell..the Celica got passed by the Type-R on the final wide corner before the goal. Tsuchiya was driving the Celi, Orido, the R.

Like I said, all the other rally cars fared the same, but I have a feeling if the situations were reversed, the road-prepped would have lost pretty horribly, hah! The neat part was the C-ONE had a full review spent on it, showing what was done, how it performed, yadda yadda. It was really nice. C-ONE has always supported the Celica, but it was really neat to see how they put it together.

The Celica was only sitting at 200PS...most of the modifications centered on the suspension, roll cage, etc...they showed everything from the trunk to the engine bay. Of course, it's obvious that their other road-tuned Celica kicks azz, and was favored by Orido, Tsuchiya, and Taniguchi in a later video.

EDIT: I also forgot to add that, all of the cars raced in one big Tsukuba Special lap...the Celica didn't fare too well, it placed 5th (one of the driver's mis-shifted one of the rally cars! :AF: ). It was still quite amazing too see it in action the circuit, but it had too little power, and the rest of the comp (Two Silvia's, one Hachi-roku and one Type-R) just left it...all of the other cars had MUCH better HP 2 WT ratios than the poor Celi' did. I guess it's better than gettin' grenaded. I'm not sure if that driver mis-shifted or if the tranny just went. :chuckles:

1. NRS Silvia
2. BOSS Streetfighter Silvia
3. Hachiroku
4. BOSS Streetfighter Type-R
5. C-ONE Celica
6. TAC BIG

The Hachiroku beat the snot outta the R & Celi...it only had 200PS, too! Has anyone else seen this video? The guy that owns C-ONE is actually quite young...in his middle to late 30's it seems.

The 6th Gen turbo 3sgte would not be underpowered. It comes more than 200ps stock.

I think it was an AE100...it was a little hard to tell what type of car it was, to be honest, and it was in Japanase. That's just what they called it.

By the way...I watched some of the older Drift Event films...my gawd..it was kinda cool seeing how far they've come...it was #15, and the cars in the vids were all 91 Silvia's or Hachirokus...the Silvias looked so new! And everyone was dressed funny...along with Tsuchiya and his old trademark "80's fluffy hair" deal going on. Still, the drivers were unbelievable back then. It's funny, cuz when I was in Hawaii in 94', I used to watch these same vids, but the Silvia's used to make me go...oooh. Nice car! I had no idea what the heck they were back then..heheh.

Most of the older ones I've watched as of late have been taken off a file site that I joined just recently, but I've also been ordering alot, too. I have nothing much to do at home, while recovering from the surgery messup, so my wife is being kinda nice as of late, and has let me pick up quite a few. I've got more VHS right now, but I just ordered a hoop of VCD and DVDs the other day. The most recent stuff, like from 2002 & 2003 is easy to get, because Best Motoring and some other sites sell the latest...but the OLDER stuff, like from way back in the day is REALLY hard to find. It can get pretty expensive though...most of them sell from 17 bucks to almost 29 bucks a pop.

It's pretty tough to find them online...good luck with DC++ or whatever you look for, downloading them has been a real pain in the azz, cuz there's not too many people that will let you take as long as it does to get them. The ones I have downloaded have been anywhere from over 600mb to 1G in size because they're DVD or high resolution captures. The Japanese take alotta pride in their work when it comes to that stuff. I've been looking for them since early October as of last year, and I've gotten kinda lucky from time to time. Some sites have them, such as www.club4ag.com in their video sections. Constant searchin' man...constant searching.

Most of the good ones are hosted by Japanese peeps, and they're extremely STRICT about how they share files. It's almost like bartering. Plus, you have to be able to understand the text they send over. Right now my computer is setup for dual english/japanese. A good program to use is Winny..but good luck fuggin' figuring it out...it's in complete Japanese and it took me about half a month to figure out how to do it, and that was mostly through luck. :( Plus, it's more of a "trusting" system, in other words, you can't just download what you want...you've got to offer downloads also. Once enough people have seen your offers, they will let you download from them. It's very similar to Bit Torrent, except it's a file sharing program. I got the idea from a few anime sites I frequent.

I can't wait till I move to Hawaii, cuz then I can just walk into the local Japanese stores and pick them up.

Yepz, seen it, the Hot Version is a small slice of one of the other Best Motoring vids...great vid...I love the N/A battle and the fact that Tsuchiya & the rest of the guys like the Celica the best. Except for the trucker look with those huge fender gaps it had. :gap:

I miss it...but not as much as you think. ;) It's a damn good car, one that's brought me alotta good memories. I'm still a member of the site, because I spend most of my time in OT:EAYOR. I've been here for along time so it's become part of my routine. When I find info of relevance, I pass it on.
