As seen in Hot Version # 49 with Keiichi Tsuchiya & Manabu Orido...has anyone else seen this vid? I did a search, but didn't see anything on the C-ONE Celica that they use for rallying. It's the white one that looks similar to the white Castrol Supra design with the huge 4 headlights on it.
Anyways...just finished watching the DVD for it, and it got STOMPED by the Type-R...but for a good reason. It was fully spec'd out for Rally only, and it was obviously apparent that all the Rally prepped cars lost to the N/A cars on the touge battles...hell..the Celica got passed by the Type-R on the final wide corner before the goal. Tsuchiya was driving the Celi, Orido, the R.
Like I said, all the other rally cars fared the same, but I have a feeling if the situations were reversed, the road-prepped would have lost pretty horribly, hah! The neat part was the C-ONE had a full review spent on it, showing what was done, how it performed, yadda yadda. It was really nice. C-ONE has always supported the Celica, but it was really neat to see how they put it together.
The Celica was only sitting at 200PS...most of the modifications centered on the suspension, roll cage, etc...they showed everything from the trunk to the engine bay. Of course, it's obvious that their other road-tuned Celica kicks azz, and was favored by Orido, Tsuchiya, and Taniguchi in a later video.
EDIT: I also forgot to add that, all of the cars raced in one big Tsukuba Special lap...the Celica didn't fare too well, it placed 5th (one of the driver's mis-shifted one of the rally cars! :AF: ). It was still quite amazing too see it in action the circuit, but it had too little power, and the rest of the comp (Two Silvia's, one Hachi-roku and one Type-R) just left it...all of the other cars had MUCH better HP 2 WT ratios than the poor Celi' did. I guess it's better than gettin' grenaded. I'm not sure if that driver mis-shifted or if the tranny just went. :chuckles:
1. NRS Silvia
2. BOSS Streetfighter Silvia
3. Hachiroku
4. BOSS Streetfighter Type-R
5. C-ONE Celica
6. TAC BIG
The Hachiroku beat the snot outta the R & Celi...it only had 200PS, too! Has anyone else seen this video? The guy that owns C-ONE is actually quite young...in his middle to late 30's it seems.
