I have heard that there is a tramissiont problem for 2001 GT standard. The gear ratio for the first and second gear are too close together. So that normally 2001 GT has some problem with transmission during the very first year. Is that true? If that is, is that problem fix for model 2002? I just want to make clear on this before picking the year model. Thank for the time reply for this question. :P

Never heard of GT models having Tranny probs before. I did have some problems with tranny and still having it but it is cause I misshifted and when dealer replaced it, they did not do a good job on it. I know that 2002 GT-S models came with different tranny but I am not quite sure about GT.

I haven't heard of any problems either, I have had my 2000 for almost 2 years, and it has been great

I had a big problem with my gt, when i would be in first gear and try to switch to secound when i was over 5,900 rpm's i would grin. If i tried to put my car in reverse when the car was cold and the rpm's where high i would also grind. I got the tranny fixed and it funs perfect, except it's stif

In my ultra-newbie days I actually misshifted my car but it still runs like a champ. Obviously, it's harder to damage a 1zz-fe. I guess the tolerances are higher.

I've had my GT for over a year, and it's been great! NO tranny problems what so ever. Though I have to admit that it is a harder car to shift than an accord or civic.
