i work at a car dealership and go to school for autobody. there is a 96-98 jetta (not sure the excact year) GL there that is crashed and declared totaled. it noticibly needs 2 passenger side doors, lots of frame work and the airbag came out. i can buy it for $600, would this be worth it to get and buy all the parts needed and try and fix it? how much would the airbag run me? or could i just get another steering wheel that doesnt have one? its only got 68k mi on it.

I would only take a Jetta if someone was paying me to.

since it's declared totaled, wouldn't you need to get an inspection for to get a rebuilt title. and to pass the inspection you would need airbags. i think if you have the time and money you should buy it, seems like a good experience.

only worth it if you're a jetta fan
if you're asking the question you're not a fan

such ignorance
i personally don't like the new MKIV jetta's. however i love the MKII jettas and some MKIII jettas's. the MKIII GTI is the best by far IMO. with just motor swaps, the MKII's can be low low 14sec cars with stock motor. a friend of mine is doing a swap of a VR6 into a MKII jetta. he is aiming to have a 2000lbs car with the VR6 in it
all my friend buy VW's off acutions for acouple hundred and part it out and sell them. it shouldn't be that hard or expensive to rebuild a VW. there are TONS of parts out there

okay mr. expert. perhaps u could have detected the sarcasm in my post. my friend drives a jetta and frequents the forums. another friend has a wolfsburg.
i just meant, why spending so much time and energy into a jetta when there are other alternatives out there.... its still FWD.
