So Stacy and I FINALLY cleaned our air filters, with the help from Chris, Silver2001GTS.

Thought I would post some pictures.

Here is my front end off my car. Stacy cleaning her engine. Stacy's puppy supervising.. and Chris tightening the bolts on Stacy's car.

I was told you should clean it like every oil change, but it's dusty in Arizona, so we have to clean out air filters more then the average person. So, roughly around every other oil change time.

but there is NO need to take off your front end just to clean that filter. Quicker & easier to do it through the wheel well area. sheesh

I don't know about you but I got 18's on my car. I can barely get to my side marker bulbs to change them.

It's easier to just take your front end off to clean it. If you do it through your wheel well, even with the wheel turned, you might not get it back on properly..

Zorn.. go for it and do it that way on your car.. I just take more care and pride in mine and like it back on correctly.. and it's not that hard to take your front bumper off and then back on, it only takes like 15 more mins. No big deal.

If you choose to take longer to do a job that can be done more efficiently in another way enjoy...but it has nothing to do with care and pride.

It would of been easy for us to do Stacy's through her wheel well.. but I wanted to take my front bumper off. I wanted to change my side marker bulbs for one.. lol since I fried the **** out of them, and I wanted to take my grills off.. and the one way I can was by taking the front end off. I dont' take my entire fron't bumper off, I just detach half of it.

When I turned my wheels, it still looked like a tight fit. And like Lauren said, it really doesn't take that long to take off the bumper. Just seemed less of a hassle to take off the bumper than to work in a small space like that. Oh well, no biggie. You do it your way, we'll do it our way :D

I agree, the wheel well way is a pain in the ass with all those fasteners. I unscrewed all the bumper bolts, but while pulling it off, I realized that was unnecessary. Just do half and you can get to the filter. Much easier than the wheel well. I was never able to get that damn thing out completely anyway.

Anyway, where are the "play" pictures. When I think of "play" and "girls", I think lesbianism. Are those pictures in Off Topic? :naughty: :wiggle:

I'ts better to just remove it from the wheel well. But if you have 18'' rims then u should just remove that tire.

It's just a couple of useless clips that hold it on aside from the bolts. I would be more concerned about damaging the lugs and not properly screwing the tire back on. I've done it both ways now, and pulling back the bump was far easier (and cleaner on my precious hands). Also, I guess I have the "2nd gen" Injen, and the filter is almost touching the bumper, so getting it off without taking off the tube from throttle body is impossible. Maybe it's the way I positioned it all in there, but it seems to fit perfectly, and I can get my ECU cooling tube in no problem (no CEL either).

I still want to see the lesbian action pictures :gap:

Taking off the tire and rim sounds like much more work then removing the bumper. I doubt taking the bumper off every oil change to change the filter is really going to hurt it. Anyways, I clean in there when I take it off.. change the light bulbs, so it isn't like it's for just one thing. Orangizational planning is what I call it :)

Um.. My styrofoam thingy is not there. My ex boyfriend was a mechanic and would always play and do new **** to my car when we were bored.. and one day he installed custom grilles and removed the styrofoam. It's useless anyways.. just there for the cusion, but if you are in an accident head on, your ****ed anyways, so **** the extra cusioning. Ya know what I mean..
