Got my WING today!

Just got my wing today from REVTEC. Only took 8 days to ship from Canada to San Diego. I haven't opened the box yet because I had it delivered to my work. I'll let you know what I find when I get home.

Just opened the box. No cracks whatsoever:). Quality looks pretty good. Hardly any imperfections, nothing that some sanding and filling couldn't solve. Overall quality I give it an 8 out of 10. Next step, finding a quality bodyshop to paint and install:).

A local Toyota dealer will be painting and installing my wing. The good thing about having them do it is they back the paint and labor with a 5 year warranty.

Hey Bat, how much does it cost for the dealer to paint and install the wing? Do they say anything because your spoiler is not a real TRD spoiler? Also, when you said they warranty labor, what kind of situations are we talking about? So when your wing chips, do they repaint, or is that a merchandise defect?

Okay guys here's the deal, not all Toyota dealers have bodyshops. There are two dealers here in San Diego that have them. As far as them giving me a hard time about my wing being a knock off of the TRD, they were very cool about it. They agreed that 1,200.00 for an unpainted wing was insane, so they gave me no problems whatsoever about painting and installing my wing. Remember, this is money in their pockets, so they're gonna take any work they can get. Regarding warranty, ofcourse they're not gonna warranty the part, but they back their paint and labor with 5 years, which is very cool. If the paint chips or fades during that period, they will repaint it and make any corrections as far as install, so you can't go wrong there. You have to remember also, this isn't even a Toyota or TRD part! Their price for paint and install was about the same as a non Toyota bodyshop. Hope this answers your questions:). The wing may be painted today, and ready for install on Tuesday, just in time for my trip to Scottsdale Arzona!

Does www.revtec.com have quailty products? I am going to get my local toyota body shop to paint and install the hood spoilers I want to get but they said it had to be a good quailty product. Oh Bat how did your wing turn out.

It's still at the shop as we speak. Actually, I'm calling them today to find out if my wing is finished. I'm in Arizona right now visiting my parents for Thanksgiving. If my wing is done, I'll have it installed on Tuesday or Wednesday:)! I've taken pics of the unpainted wing, I'll post them with my review and final install pics of my wing. Look out for my post hopefully by next week;). As far as quality, Like I said before, quality seems pretty good compared to the Visracing one I saw and hated with a passion.

Thanks Mike. Actually the picture quality is good, scanner quality was bad. I used my Dad's scanner when I was in Arizona the last few days, needs new ink cartridge. I cleaned up the scanned pics the best I could on Photoshop.

BTW- I'm trying to find the cover for the stock 3rd brakelight. The TRD wings come with them, but since this is a knock off wing, no cover. I'm going to have the light on the wing hooked up, so the stock one will no longer be operational. I called several Toyota parts departments, but the cover is not listed as an available item:( . Any suggestions?

im sure any shop can make a custom cover out of fiberglass. im guessing thats all it is for the TRD one anyways. or you could go all out and just ask the shop to shave it. that would be smooth.

Well, since I'm only going to be using 1 of the 2, no need to keep the other visible, right? Anyway, I'll probably just keep the stock 3rd brakelight there and not bother with it. Shaving it would be too costly.

Unplug the stock 3rd break light and cover it with a vinyl tape maybe? It is going to be hard to find these things unless TRD USA has extras. TRD is in Tustin in Orange County you wanna try them? But I am not sure how happy they are gonna be to see someone with a copy of their wing drive up to get a part that they put with the wing they sell.

I called the bodyshop to check on my wing. It's being painted today. I'm hoping they'll be able to install before the end of the week. How many days should pass before you can handle a newly painted wing anyway?

Bat my wing was painted and installed in one day. They used an oven todry the paint. So far so good.

The bodyshop had to do alittle extra prep to the wing, sanding, some slight filling. They want it done right, that's what's taking it awhile, plus they've been backed up for awhile with work.

I picked up my car yesterday, and boy does the wing look good:cool:! The shop did a very nice job on the wing. Fitment was pretty good overall. They even hooked up the 3rd brakelight mounted on the wing. It rained the other day so my car is pretty dirty. More rain is expected tomorrow, so I don't want to wash the car yet, so pics will have to wait for a few days.
