i've been looking into buying a 6000k HID kit, i've been searching the forums and most people have the 4100k Kit. is there a big difference between the two? i figure if i'm gona get HID's just spend the extra 100$ and step up to the 6000k? does anyone have the 6000k or 4100k kits? whats your guys thoughs?

if i'm not mistaken, the 4100 is a decent amount brighter than the 6k HID. the 4100 kit puts out a more "whiter" light compare to the the other.

brb....i'm going to do a search and show you what i mean

EDIT:
here you go....i found some pics which banana-ryce put up

i was just looking, the H7 is only low beams, in order to get both low and high, it would be 900$?
how would this be worth the $?

TRD StreetRacing

do not get the high beam HID's. they would literaly bilnd the **** out of some1. you will never use the high beam HID's.

when u turn on ur hids, it will take acouple of minutes to warm up and come up to full brightness/light. so getting high beam HID's are pointless and a waste of $$. cuz if when you turn it on, it will take acouple of minutes to come to full brightness

just get the H7 HID's and you won't need high beam HID's at all

you can get HID's (H7) for about $350-400shipped

H7 - 4K H7 Xenon HID Conversion Kit - 4100K $449.00

where you get them for 350-400?

i guess i was looking at a old group buy they did. in any case, email a few sponsors and see if they can give you a better price (other than what's given on their web page)

most likely they might give a better price. never hurts to ask ;)

just one more question, i hear you will not need your high beams, are the H7 HID's brighter then the stock high beams?

TRD StreetRacing
03-07-2004, 07:45 PM
from the pics i've seen, YES they are brighter BUT high beams reach further distance than HID (thus why they are called high beams)

Just dont get them tooo bright man. Remember, brighter does not mean better. I dont think these super bright hid's look good at all. Have some taste and get a decent mid level brightness that looks good at the same time. My opinion!

i just got them from the sponsors section, paied 446$ total from the XenonDepot.com for the 4100k kit.
im not the best with cars so i will look and see if i can install it if not just take it to a shop and have it done.

:D that's so true Kia.

I have the 4300K Catz HID kit. I paid 375 I believe shipped through a GB. The lower the Kelvin, the whiter, and brighter the light. Anything higher and the light becomes blue/purple and visibility will go down. You will probally never use your high beams again, but probally just to flash people with.

while were on the subject.. you should only get lows and fogs? I like the idea of having lows/highs and fogs. You can't say you would never use your highs.

TRD StreetRacing
03-08-2004, 05:15 PM
i'm not too sure about u guys, but i've had my car for 3+ years and i've only use my high beams only acouple of time (4-5)

Basically I want to know is what is the price difference and options between lows/highs/fogs. What is worth it? What is the price difference between between the options and can I install them myself.

TRD StreetRacing
03-08-2004, 05:18 PM
can you install it ur self = yes

is it worth it = varies from person to person BUT i would guess 99.99% of the ppl won't get high beams

price difference = no clue

it depends where you live. Going home from work all the time I put my highs on. BTW when you put on your highs are your lows still on? I think they are right?

It's not even a matter of using them or not. Many people on this forum have shown that HID fogs will defeat the purpose of fog lights. The whiter the light, the more it reflects back to you. You want your fogs to be yellow if you want the best output with your HID output in the lowbeams. As for highbeams, it is a waste of money. Get the HID lows first, you will see that you dont even need highbeams at all. I've seen pics of cars with HID in the middle of a road with no other light but the HID, and it lit up everything, trees signs way down yonder. everything. get the lows first, and if it's still not enough for whatever reason, get the HID highs.

another FYI, the cars that come with HID dont come with HID fogs, even if it looks like it. As far as I can tell I've never seen one with factory highbeam HID. That should say something about how good the lowbeams are. :)

Kia, don't you have that color chart and know all the techical jargon for HID's? Why am I explaining this when you can do it 10x better!? :D

celica_ownz: If you want an even more technical explanation, do a search for the username "Jesse IL" and HID. He has great expertise and know-how in the field of HID. :)

get out of the city and come to the woods for once where there are no street lights for miles and miles and its just a windy dark road. i love my hids and will never drive another car without them! but just get the H7's. there is no need for hid fogs, and definitely not high beam hids! the regulars will be suffice :D

Get out of the city? No way my friend! :D

Oh and Mike, I used them twice, blew them both out (aftermarket) and have never replaced them. :D I only feel the need to use them when I wanna highbeam someone.

the topic has been covered before. i dont have the motivation to repeat myself.

i have to admit there have been a few times where i would have liked better than halogen high beams; but i wouldnt want to spend $200+ on another kit.

i have yellow fogs. i think they look better than white. i dont think its color makes a difference in fog or bad weather. i've turned them on and off and i do not see any visual difference. but looking at the car head on i prefer the yellow glow over white.

also, each HID bulb will need a seperate ballast. LO+HI+fogs = 6 ballasts!

110W :AF:

wont' that burn the housing??

evil eye
03-08-2004, 07:39 PM
It depends. if output is 110W and input is 55, then he's straight. but if input is 110 as well (not likely) then the harness is probally melted to hell by now. then again it is winter :D j/k
