Got the car back from the shop today, looks great!!!
Drove a few blocks seemed ok.....hit lift a couple of times (car was warmed up they were working on it when I picked it up) seemed fine. Drove a couple more miles, got on the freeway, got on it a little seemed like it didn't hit lift...7000 rpm felt like a Geo Metro, couldn't get out od it's own way. Crused at 65 for a couple more miles, downshifted on the offramp and heard a knock knock knock mixed with the sound of a spun bearing...???? Well, back to the dealer it goes I'm sure it will still be covered under the same insurance claim.
But it does look good, the body shop did a great job. I'll post pix when I get it back...some day.

I Was on the 210 to 57 transition today, cars on both sides of me going about 65-70 and there it was, a piece of steel about 14" wide and 10" tall Ka-f'n Booooom!!!! dented and poped some of the paint of my Kam front end (lucky for me it's plastic and not fiberglass) also took out my oil pan, and then bounced under my car so hard it pushed the right rear passenger floor board up.
Right after it happened all I saw was blue smoke in the rear view. I put it in neutral and coasted off the fwy (about an 8th mile total from impact to off ramp) while on the off ramp the motor stalled and I coasted into a station where the rest of the oil puked out. Arghhhhhh what a drag. I then had it towed to Glendora Toyota.
The tow truck driver was really cool. He was so carefull with the car pullin' it up on to the flat bed making sure not do any more damage.
The dealer is going to call tomorrow b-4 noon and let me know the extent of the damage. The insurance adjuster already called and is going to the dealer tomorrow or Fri to "hopefully" authorize the repair.
Everyone keep their fingers crossed for me, and pray to the car Gods. (I've been saying that long b4 that movie came out)

man.. that sucks @$$... it's annoying how some people don't have the decency to secure their cargo. at least you're okay--hopefully everything will get repaired at no cost to you

Word. I always go through that area too (210-57) I hate how people have all this issh coming out their truck beds n all. And even worse, how lazy CAL TRANs is. They pick up the trash on the side, do yard work but don't even have the decency to clean up all the big ass junk in the middle of the freeways.

Good luck getting it all fixed up. I fear this happening all the time when people block off any escape space I try to keep around me for just such a situation. Being forced to run over something sucks!!

...only my $500.00 deductable. I was going to repaint the nose anyway because I hit a piece of re-tread (why can't they outlaw those tires they are really dangerous, and always all over the HWY) last month which scuffed it. Just didn't want to do it this way!

cracked my bomex bumper and dented my front bomex plate. Funny thing is the plate is more tore up than the bumper itself which is fiberglass;)

Sounds like you got out without any serious damage. It musta been pretty heavy though to take out the oil pan. This is one of those rare times when you learn to appreciate insurance.

Same thing happened to me when I had my Civic lifted my car and popped out the ashtray in the back (I found it in the back seat) Ended up spending $1200 since it punctured my fuel tank. On top of that I just lowered the car and added an exhaust the week before and it dented my exhaust.

I hit a peice of gatorback about a year ago and somehow it dented my DOOR. I guess it wrapped around my tire and it flung around the side somehow. $650 to fix and that is with a discount.

Just got word from the dealer:
NO MOTOR DAMAGE!
Only sheared the bottom of the oil filter off. I couldn't see it after the mishap because all of the lower plastic was hangin' down everywhere.
Did however dent the APEX exhaust pipe and muffler, hope they will cover it, I believe a stock system is prob more $
Today I have to pay the $13.00 (for filter and oil) to release it to the body shop. I'm going to go there and check out the work they've performed on other cars... I am one picky fawker.
Insurance adj will be there tomorrow @ 9:30 am.
So far so good, stay tuned, film @ 11.
Keep prayin' to the car Gods, I think it's workin'!!!

What he said :).....I don't understand why some people could be so out of it as to not realize losing such a large object..there was a construction ladder on the freeway here once that I almost hit

If it makes you feel any better, I ran over a cat Monday night after work. Didn't mess up my car but I was so sad for the cat. It's STILL laying there too. I have to see it every night leaving work now. :sadwave:

Hey all,
Here is the latest:
Estimate is $3100.00 and includes:
Repair and paint nose
Repair and paint pass side skirt (they are goin to repaint drivers side too)
Replace oil pan (dealer said it wasn't damaged... it is.)
Remove carpet kit on pass side to cut out and replace hole/dented rear floorboard.
They are only going to cover a "stock " exhaust. You cant see the dents (only on muffler and one on the pipe, it doesn't affect the sound) so I'll put that money towards getting the hood repainted it never looked good anyway.
Then they will colorsand and buff the entire car.
They said one week (bullsheeeet) I guessing 2 weeks. I told them to take their time, they know I'm a pickey Fawker...
Stay tuned...

Johnny
