i dont know about in states other than MA, but i got my excise tax bills today. and according to the town of milford, ma, my 2000 toyota celica value is $2100. therefore i have to pay $52.50. thats really sad my car is only worth that much :( but the real kicker, my 89 corsica that i've never driven (and is still registered) is worth $1000 and i have to pay $5 for that.

what about the rest of the MA peeps? how much do you guys have to pay?

I had to pay 350 bucks i believe. They valued my car at 13,500. Next year it will probably be worth 8 grand. Hahaha.

they are talking about the kind of property taxes that we need to pay for our car each year. For my town, if my car's value is $1000, i would need to pay $25. This year, my town values my 2003 Celica at $13750 (which is entirely bull), i had to pay around $350 excise tax.

i dont know if this is a massachusetts only type of tax....not sure......but its better for the government to think that your car is cheap, coz the more its worth, the more we gotta pay.........

This year I have to pay $52.52 for my excise tax. The first year was in the 300's area. I hate taxes.

I'm noticing how only the Ma. people responded that they share the same fate. It must be a mass only thing. I never even heard of an excise tax. That sucks guys. :(

It's not BS.. you have to pay taxes one way or another...

In NYC, there's city tax. I paid $1500 city tax, $3000 NYS Tax, and $2800 CT Tax, cuz i live in NYC and Work in CT.

excise tax is the tax that a town or city IN the state of MA charges its residents for "use of the public roads in that town"

its not a state tax...its a city/town tax.

myself i paid $40 on my camaro, and this year is $12.50 for my jeep :gap:

I hate paying the tax. It seems like no matter what you do you have to pay a tax. And the roads in my town, are friggin garbage.

:werd: same here....I have to pay to drive on crappy roads. the kind of roads that make my tires wear out prematurely, bending my rims.....yet this is suppose to be the most powerful nation in the world......i mean, we have the money to send 2 million troops to the middle east but we cant fix the potholes and the bumps on interstate highways and busy streets in downtown boston.

The roads suck big time. Bent my old rims so I had to get a new set of rims. Then blew a tire so I had to buy a new tire. Just recently there was a bolt stuck to my tire so I had to get it patched. These roads ****ing suck.

Wow, that's a joke. They should be paying you for taking a chance driving on their rodes. Seriously, you guys in Mass, have some of the worst rodes I have EVER had the displeasure of driving on. Been up there twice, once on 16's, and the second on my low pro 18's. Damn, I dunno how I didn't bend a rim, even on the 16's. Nothing's worse than being lost in a place you've never been before, and you have the ass-hole locals who are beeping at you for going 5MPH over the crappy roads. I'm convinced you guys have more potholes than people there. :(

yes the roads here in MA do suk major donkey balls! thats why you gotta have a quick eye and a good reaction time when driving down the road trying to avoid the potholes and frost heaves especially with aftermarket wheels on.

nice to see our money going to good causes and fixing roads. :)
