Since you are in northern NJ, I would go for an all season unless you don't drive in the winter or if you don't have snow tires.

Falken Zeix 512's I got are awesome! I drove in a little snow on Friday, and they did great! Driving in rain feels like dry pavement.

I would recommend them. Tires.com has them for $81 each shipped (no tax either)!

I expect the AVS ES100 will be terrible in snow. But it's a good, affordable summer tire.

And I'm lucky enough to have snow tires to swap on for a third of the year. :gap:

what size would you suggest for the yok's for best performance?

If you're getting tires for the stock 16" wheels, I'd stick with the stock size: 205/50-16.

If you have wider, aftermarket 16" wheels, you could also consider 225/45-16.

i am riding on yokohama avs100 right now. size 205/45 16 on stock rims. they look very nice. but the thing is i only used had them for like a year, and probably put a 12-13k on them, maybe even less, and im already need new ones, cause those have almost no tread left.
right now im looking for new tires again, something else thou, that wouldnt worn out that quick.
of course im no angel in driving, and have a stiff suspension, but i still think tires should last a little more than that.

ps. they really suck on snow :)

^^^ Is your wear pattern even?

I have 205/50-16 AVS ES100's on the stock wheels. And from the wear so far, I'd guess they'll last 20K miles.

the pattern is good and even, i kept rotating them. thou cause i have about 2" drop the inside, wears a little more, but still not that noticeble.
well, i thought mine will last like over 16k at least, but then after winter they got worn out way more then i was expecting. and i didnt even race or anything. i think just because of temp drop the rubber was more numb and wore out more than it was supossed to. but that would be so against fizics, cause the traction was very sucky in cold weather. so it should be like less traction=less wear out? but i quess it wasnt.

I checked out tirerack.com and found out that a 225/50-16 would fit the stock 16 inch rims, but do you guys know how it would perform--do you think it would improve the handling over the stock tires?

i tried to order a 205/45/16 and they called me back and said something about a weight problem with the tires i wanted. kinda weird. i wish i remebered what he said.i wanted the goodyear eagle f1's. i ended up getting the AVS ES100 205/50/16

^^^ Good luck with your new tires.

As for 225/50-16 tires, they'd fit the wheels, but they're 3.8% bigger around than 205/50-16.

That's enough of a difference to discourage me from considering that size as a daily driver.

i dont have any very close ones, but any other pic of my car has the 205/45 tires on it. my friend use to have 205/40 on his stock rims. but got no pics of that.

hey thanks.
thats kinda cool, that youcan put wider tires on stock rims.
if i would, put wider than go with most of 225/40 not 50, well 45 maybe. cause i dont like my tires big.

btw, the pic below, made just yesterday, after 1/4 mile races on same 205/45 tires :)

All directional tires should have arrows on the sidewall indicating the rotation direction.
