Hey, has anyone here ever been involved with or is currently in Civil Air Patrol?
Thinking about joining. My Uncle is a squadron leader in colorado. The closes CAP squad near me is at Westpoin Airbase. One of my friends is in it and he says its alot of fun.
For those of you that dont know what Civil Air Patrol is:

Pretty much, i go to a meeting wearing my BDU's (Battle Dress Uniform) and we do different programs.........ie, physical, mental, teamwork, etc. If there was lets say a search and rescue effort going on in my zone area, i would be called in and be one of those officials who would be searching. If say we were on high terrorist alert, i would most likely be asked to be stationed at my nearest air port. I have heard from my Uncle and my Friend that it is lots of fun, it is for teenagers all the way up to adults. There are different things you can do to earn medals......(like a more advanced boy scout). Sounds like a lot of fun.......just have been trying to persuade my parents which has been the problem.......i could not get called to war or anything like that, ie: 1. i have asthma, 2. i have to take special medications. You can stop attending meeting whenever you would like and can go to as many meetings as you would like. It's all about teamwork! I also get to go to shooting ranges and later on i would get to learn how to fly planes. No i am not wanting to serve in the services for my country but i have always been fascinated by all of its services and have always played soldier when i was little.
