Hi there!
Just wanted to say hello to all members of this cool board, I am new here!
I live in Austria, Europe and I am owning a Toyota Avensis (which you will probably not know)... I have owned a Celica (92) before and I LOVE the new T23...
The Toyota Avensis is a sedan, a bit smaller than the camry, it ranges between corolla and camry, but its very spacious....
The car itself is also tuned, lowering springs, 17" alloy wheels (Borbet), 215/40/17 Falken tires...
and the most important thing: It is a Diesel... yeah right... Originally with 110 hp and a torque of 250 NM @ 1900 rpm.... with chip it reaches 145 hp and 290 NM @ 1900 rpm... this means the car has a lot of power.... ;)
Nevertheless, I am going to tune in here from time to time, as I have the feeling that there are cool people in this place :D
I hope I am welcome although I am not owning a celica....

boaaahhh, do not rankle with me ;)
Well, here are some other pics (but one some with the original 15" wheels) ... the grille is not original, its from TTE (toyota team europe) which is quite the same as TRD in the states:

Welcome to the boards. Its cool to see TTE, represented here. Thats the first Avensis I've seen pics of, and must say its a fine looking Toy. It does look like a mix between a Camry/Corolla. Can you post some more pics, with shots of the interior & engine as well? I'm sure others would like to see them as well. L8r:thumbup:

Welcome man, nice car. It looks like a cross between a Toyota Tercel and a Corolla. The lights do look like a Civic though. Ever race some Polos?

Thanks for your comments guys...
i am a little bit stressed as I am working on the car right now... I have painted the the brakes red and am just tinting the orange part of the rearlights black :D
I have also mounted the 17" alloy wheels again as I am not awaiting any snow anymore ;)
As soon as everything has been finished I will post some more pics, also from the interior (which is very nice :D ) and the engine (though its covered by a big plastic-shield)...
till later,

Hi again!
What I forgot to say is that it is a Common-rail Turbo diesel. The turbo is modified by a chip, for more power (+35 hp):

@ TRD Tuner & Acilec: indeed, the front looks like the new camry although the Avensis has been on the market since 98. In 2000 they made a facelift containing these new nice looking lights (similar to the camry):

Compared to the Corolla its much more spacious and even bigger. The interior itself is rather "elegant":

Here one pic from the rear:

Sweet looking car dude! Very elegant sports touring sedan. How does it run with the Turbo Diesel? Does it compare to the Mercedes T/D? Also, how heavy is the car? What's the top speed, 0-60mph? I'm a big fan of Toyotas, and your car looks like it can run with the best Euro Sport Sedans. L8r

@ TRDtuner:
Thanks, man ;)
Well, it looks like a sports touring sedan, because I made it look like that... normally that car is driven by 45 year old familiy fathers :D
As for the Turbo-Diesel it is one of the best diesel engines in its class (2.0 L engine - 110 hp originally ) - compared to the Mercedes 200 CDI with 115 hp its much more powerful and has the better acceleration and is also more silent.
I only have acceleration time for 0-100 km/h which is 11,0 sec. (Mercedes 12,5 sec, VW Passat TDI 11,8 sec)
The same model AVensis Model with a 1.8 VVti engine run by gas and 129 hp has the same acceleration. :D
With the additional power that is supplied by the chiptuning its about 10 sec until 100 km/h. Top Speed is 215 km/h. The car weighs 1350 KG.
One thing that is still missing is a rear spoiler (supra style):

I will try to get it in June...
I am a big toyota-fan myself and also have the largest Austrian-Toyotafansite:
www.toyotafan.at.tf - regrettably everything is in german ;)

Thats really a sharp looking Toy, and I like that Website, although my German is rough. Your Avensis does look very similar to the new Camry. I've seen from your TTE website that you have many Euro version Toyotas there. Do you have the new Matrix? Do you have Supras there? Are there alot of Toyotas there? What about Toyota clubs? Very curious about TTE. Can you post some more links? L8r

Thanks!
Youre right, the new Camry looks similar to the Avensis altough the Avensis looks more compact and more sporty. Bone stock it looks like this (I have the TTE sportsgrill):

Yes, in Europe the product pallette of Toyota is slightly different, as we do have more compact vehicles that offer much space. SUV as they are preffered in the US are rather not bought as also the fuel costs are much higher. In Austria for example are 95% of the new vehicles sold with an diesel engine.
Regrettably the Matrix is not sold in Europe (if it would I would have purchased one as its sooo cool ;) ) ... instead of the Matrix we have the Corolla Verso, which looks like that:
http://members.liwest.at/jedgarh/modelle/corolla/coreu11.jpg
Of course we do have Supras ;) Especially in Germany and Switzerland there are lots of MK IVs ( www.supraholic.de ) Click on "Enter old site" ! The site is really cool! Flash Design and nearly everthing in English! Then click on DRIVERS in the menu and then on the names to see some really cool Supras! :D
In Austria Toyota ranks on 10th place regarding Sales (first place is volkwagen followed by other german brands like Audi, BMW and Mercedes). And although statistics proof that Toyotas are the most reliable cars (regarding breakdowns) the majority of the people buy German cars (as they still think German quality is the better quality, which is not right ;) ) As you may know these are the people who call Toyotas "riceburners" and things like that. Well, i dont care, they just dont have savvy.
There are also some toyota clubs, of course, especially in Germany.
There is one big Internet board like this with 1700 registered members, which is the best german speaking toyota board: www.toyota-forum.de
Which other links do you want to have?
Are you using ICQ?

Cool Supra site! I'm a big fan of the mark IV. Is there a TTE site in English where I can check out Euro parts for our Celi? What about Racing sites? I'm a big fan of the DTM Racing. I love Racing my Mark IV TT in SCCA Comp, until I wake up to reallity! I wish! I want a Supra so bad it hurts! Maybe i'll get the next gen Supra, bcuz it looks bad ass! Like our Celi, only with the longer front end. Have you seen the picks of the next gen Supra? If not, I'll send you some. Let me know. L8r dude.
