I just got my Celica back from Toyota this morning, and here is what they told me... "We will no longer cover any transmission repairs, beyond this one", and basically acused me of abusing the car. I have been driving stick for the last 8 years, and never had as many problems as I have with this car, and no, I don't abuse it. I've heard about alot of others having synchro problems, so has anyone else been told this? I have heard of people losing coverage after several engines, but this is ridiculous. Another dilema is, I love the car, and don't want to get rid of it, but may be able to get out of the lease since it's been repaired so many times. Any advice would be welcome. Guess if I do opt out of the lease I can look forward to a WRX.

Leased car + mods = no no. You're lucky they covered you. If you're going to mod a car, BUY it.

they told me the same thing, as far as modding a lease, its been done b4, its being done now, and it will be done again :)

"Leased car + mods = no no"...wrong...besides, what does leasing have to do with anything??? Even if I'd been buying, they were still threatening to not honor my warranty.
Here's the deal, when I started the lease, one of the first questions I asked them was "does the terms of the lease forbid me from doing any modifications?" They told me, it does not forbid mods, as long as they are limited to bolt on parts, basically, no internals. It does, however, stop warranty coverage on the parts you replace, which is to be expected. So, intake/exhaust/suspension mods aren't a problem.
Anyhow, here's an update: After calling Toyota corperate, the dealership called me back and basically apologized for what they said. So, my transmission is still covered. I should add that when I got my car back, the steering wheel was about 10 degrees left of center. Guess what, they covered the re-alignment under warranty even though I have coilovers...
