I calculated the dimensions of most/all the common GT-S tire choices, and compared them to stock.
Some people might find this graph useful.

Werd. Now people can have something to look at instead of just proclaiming the cheapo wheel-and-tire deal combo that they got for $600 is "teH Best W0n!@#"
Actual calculations is the reason I will ONLY go with 225/40/17 if I upgrade my wheels/tires from the stock 16's.

But almost no tires are made in 225/40-17 :(
As for sizing, I wouldn't worry at all about a small difference (<1.5%). Tire wear alone can make that much difference.

Nice chart. I put 225/40/18's on my GT-S and noticed a huge difference in both gearing and speed. Nearly impossible to stay in lift with these things and they slow the car down something fierce. Time to get some lightweight 17's.

I only know of the Nitto 555's that come in 225/40/17. I hear they are a decent summer tire. Not perfect for hardcore autocross or anything, but supposedly better than stock and not too expensive.
Know of any other 225/40/17 tires other than Nitto 555?

If I had 17" wheels, I'd probably choose a tire first and then see if was available in a decent matching size (like 215/40-17 or 205/45-17).
