Not to start flame war, but opinions on other Celica sites from while NC.org was down

Man, I'm glad this place is back up. The other Celica sites just don't make me want to get on the computer. I tried out a few others and I'll say I wasn't impressed.

nextcelica.net - This board is basically like reading the newbie forum here. Nice enough people, they just don't know ANYTHING.

celica.net - I started out there and left when it became terrible and all the knowledgeable people left, and all the assholes took over. Still pretty much the same, but better than nextcelica.net The only good posts I found over there were from displaced nc.org members. Also, they still use that same crappy software we used to use here that caused the board to run so slow.

Anyone else care to comment on their experiences while the site was down?

well, newcelica.NET started out kinda normal, then got all weird and sh|t.
TeamCelica.com is a good forum, it just doesn't get as much traffic as the other forums.

Agreed. The other sites seemed to be geared more toward novices and newbies, while I consider newcelica.org to be "the big leagues."

nextcelica.net - i only go there to check up on the arizona forum.. and events going on in my area, other then that, their information to me isn't to helpful

celica.net- i like that site because it's orginal. it isn't based on the 7th gen, it's for all gens. the colors need to be changes, that gray and orange don't go together to well..

toyotacelica.org is new but slowly coming together.. give it more time

I really missed this site. Celica.net is okay, but the moron level is kind of high. They are really in need of a knowledge base over there. Too many kids. Nextcelica.net messed up my registation, and I haven't bother to try and figure it out. Newcelica.org was just weird. Toyotacelica.org isn't bad at all. We'll see how it goes.

That's because all the banned people from nc.org goes to celica.net. I think this site has changed for the better. I remember a time when anyone asked a question there used to be a gang of people flaming that person. I really like the overall atmosphere of nc.org now.

to be honest i really didn't think that newcelica.net was that bad there were not many users and stuff but that was expected

but all the drama of who ever hacked that other site is an idiot if it was larry (not saying it was him )that is some pretty weak and imature thing to do and if it wasn't him that is one hell of an ass kissing on the part of whoever did it that is so damn gay that is not needed at all

I occassionally browse celica.net and toyotacelica.org, but it just isn't the same. I think when you get used to one board and really like it, nothing can replace it.

Now newcelica.net, that site was just messed up. They had horrible rules and regulations and the admins did not treat anybody very well at all in my opinion. The night I started bashing the admins there with their rules, it was nice to have some fellow nc.org members to back me up.

I also thought that newcelica.net had some promise. Forgive me if I am wrong but didn't they shut down the site themselves, don't think it had anything to do with anyone from this site? After it was shut down it may have been hacked which is a lame thing to do and showed no class.

They had a good thing going but couldn't manage the situation. The three things that came to mind which offended people was:

1. Spam email to get people to site
2. Use of installs without permission
3. The apperent arbitrary deleting or locking of posts the admins or moderatiors did not like - my personal favorite

Given those issues they could have addressed them and perhaps become a viable site. They instead chose to shut down as a Celica site and become whatever the hell it is now. So given all of that I am sorry that they didn't make it from a Celica perspective but can't muster a lot of sympathy for the leaders since they reaped what they had sown.

nc.org and spyderchat.com are the only boards that don't have a majority of morons or children. Spyderchat.com doesn't gte as much traffic as this place, so I couldn't waste as much time on it. clubrsx.com is pretty bad.

Hahaha, newcelica.net is hilarious!! Remember the pic of the dude farting with flames coming out of his butt? THAT was funny! The posts over there now are hella funny now too. Everyone over there is just posting all kinds of BS and it's cracking me up, especially that Gary Condit guy.

One thing that was good from that site was I was able to find a guy in the buy/sell forum selling his stock white rear bumper for $100, too bad he's in Jersey and I live by San Jose :(

Celica.net - like many, I started out there, and then moved to NC.org, forums ok but the mix of the old celica's with ours is odd
Bay Area Forums - since I live in Davis/Antelope, CA its a good board for any NorCal folks
TeamCelica.com - I liked the site, I liked the member database, but thats about it

celica.net should get an honorable mention for having so much **** on the previous generations of celicas, however.

also, you guys have a crazy stereotype of ClubSi, that's IMHO, completely off. it's not a BS board. it's a flamer's board. they're a very close knit community, albeit also a large one at that, and it's more of an online hangout first, and car board second. but the second you post anything remotely stupid or outrageous, you will get called out for it, and flamed or ridiculed.

I treated people very well in my opinion. It was a huge drama and you didn't know any of it obviously. I had already spoke with Yakko and Oldster about it and how to make the site better. It was neither of the admins (even though Jim can get crazy at times). I wont name names but lets just say that someone was doing a lot to make sure the site didnt work out. I just chalk it up as a failed experiment and I'm moving on.

Again for any of those that felt wronged somehow by the whole affair then just contact me and we can talk.

The person that sent these to us claimed they were their own. This was one of the other reasons we took down the site. We had them down as soon as we heard that they were not original works.

This I'm not too sure about, Jim and I had nothing to do with it. We are pretty sure we know who did it, and that person had done a lot of lying to us and others.

Yeah Jim made his own crazy site out it. He's jsut being silly now. Most people know that Jim and Larry dont see eye to eye but thats between them.

I told Jim to take down the site Monday morning because it was more trouble than it was worth. People didn't want us so we took off. I really wanted it to work but hey it didn't.

Now for the important part, why in the hell am I defending myself? Well because I felt that I was trying to do something nice and helpful. I wasn't doing anything against Larry, and Jim and I had been kicking around the idea for a while. Alot wasn;'t handled well and a lot of people didn't to see us do well, and one even straight up lied to us, as we later found out that they had done to other.

Like I said then, I will say now. I love this community, I love my car and I do alot to make things happen local and nationally. Maybe I'm too idealistic, but after everything happened I was really down on Monday, I thought about giving it all up, but I just decided that I need to better focus my energies.

Oh well, on to other projects.

I will also say for the record that I am truly sorry that your site did not work out. I'm sure that I did not help the situation but I tend to jump in with both feet when I don't agree that something or someone is being treated fairly. I have done that on this and other forums as well so please don't think that your site was singled out. While I am certainly no insider I can only guess that your previous post regarding humor might also be viewed as terribly ironic? The very best of luck to you.

I also looked at Celica.net...never liked it...even when this was down I still didn't like the atmosphere over there. TC.org was where I set up camp. That board shows a lot of promise...just needs time to grow. Don't even get me started on newcelica.net...

Celica.net and thier faithful laughed at Larry and then myself for helping him. LOL Most of those guys have fallen into the cracks. I visit other sites just to check them out etc. But this is my home. It has everything I need.

This is true. But c'mon you have to admit some of the things they say over there are odd. I remember the one topic when none of them said they would want the new Type R because it wasn't "luxurious" enough, no leather, sunroof, etc. They all want to be racers but don't want the Type R because it doesn't have enough luxury, that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Well, when this site went down I just went from spending 75% of my time at preludeonline.com and 25% here.. to 100% at preludeonline.. :D

I must say, though, that Preludeonline is right up there with this board in the number of knowledgable, mature posters.. good place to get all kinds of car ??'s answered..
