How would you guys feel if somebody copied your car exactly? My car is a red celica with with white TSW rims, and apexi dunk exhaust. I've been to Sacramento State University a few times, to study in the library. A while ago i parked next to a bone stock red celica. (it had a vtech sticker on its windshield). When I came back the car was gone. Then I went back this last week, and what do i see? The same celica with my rims and my exhaust. Still had its stupid "Vtech" (not vtec) sticker on it. The only difference was that it wasnt lowered. I felt like beating that persons ass. They straight up COPIED my car. I'm pretty sure that next time I see that car, its gonna have ground controls on it as well. I just wanted to vent... i mean some people , my god! :bang:

that really sucks. I would totally get someone to jack their car. then steal their stuff and keep it for back up =:o) then i would put their v-tec sticker and mail it to their house just for fun!

That is messed up man. Some people don't have any creativity at all.

You bought a Celica, so did 150,000 other people, how original are you? You did something nice to your car and somebody admired your taste, be glad.

It is one thing to see someone else with similar mods, especially on the internet and forums like this. But if it was someone close to you and physically saw your car to copy it....yeah, I'd beat his ass down.

I guess I don't understand what the difference is between copying your car from the internet or in person. What the hell does proximity have to do with it? I used to have a friend who got a hugh boost out of being the trend setter, primarily with paints. When enough people had copied him he would go to something different.

If somebody admired my taste, they could have left a note or something. Our cars are pieces of art (at least to some of us) With limitless supplies of rims and exhausts. Why did they have to go and choose the same exact combination as mine? So if somebody copied the mona lisa, would da vinci be happy? I know its kind of a far comparison, but thats basically how i feel. If i saw a car i liked, i'd admire it , and try to create my own unique combination. And about buying a celica like 150,000 other people.... if i could, i would have built my own car. But thats not very feasible now is it?

That was a pretty far out comparison, as was my 150,000. In any event I don't want this to turn into a contest so we can just agree to disagree? I'm pretty sure it is not that common an issue to begin with.

Yeah... I like being the first one in Washington to have gotten the Kamianri Body kit, no one can say I copied them :wiggle: But I can say they copied me :gap:

Yah, i guess so. Its not really that big a deal. I just felt "violated" :gay: I just wanted my car to be somewhat unique.

people will copy it to an certain point.
i dont think people would go threw the trouble to make it look exactly like my car.

i'd feel exactly the same way, man. of course, i don't know the time frame. for example, if this guy had already ordered these parts before he saw your car, then it's not really copying. it's that u two had the same ideas.
if it were up to me, i would save some money, sell my parts, and get a new kit and set of rims. i'm with what seems to be most people who have responded so far, and i want to be the original. it's different if the persons got a similar car to yours if they live in california and u live in florida. but when it comes to being in the same city, it's a whole new ball game. that's why i'm keeping my kit for daily driving and getting a veilside for show.

I would have to agree with Oldster, there are probably hundreds and thousands of people with the same combination you have. So most likely you copied it from someone else. (even though you think you didn't)
So he saw your car and wanted his to look like it. You know who's the pimp and who's the bitch. Thats the only thing that needs to be known.

That is somewhat true. I saw the Revos on the TRD Solara. But the exhaust, i dont think i've seen the Dunk on any other celicas. At least I dont remember. And btw... I love your turbo. Its an amazing machine.

how many people have tantrums or z5000s on their celi?

MEEEEEEEEE!
The point of my statements was you mod your car to be different....so why do what the guy next to you has? Kinda defeats the purpose huh?
But, on the other hand....I can't count the number of people I've helped with the redded tail modification...but I have yet to see another Celi with the mod in person, unless at a nc.org meet.
Get my drift?

Why does it seem so many people feel this need? I don't get it. I just want my car to be the way I like it. I don't care how alike or different it is.

some people feel complimented cuz they helped set the trend like the red out tails from u clone, but i can also understand waki paki's case cuz it seems like a stolen idea.

hey this happened to me!!!
there was another spec blue 6-speed around town, the same body shop i go to (www.robsautobody.com) he had his body kit shipped there... me and the owner of the shop are pretty close, and he asked me if i had another cf hood and body kit that came in... and i said no... he told me he had another kit, cf hood and a cf wing... so i ran over his shop to take a look at it...
some guy around town got a cf hood and asked rob to pearl it "just like the other guys celica" and the wing too... there's a funny story to it to.. i remember exactly...
the day my shop was coming out of the shop (friday) his car was going in... i got it out on friday cuz there was a show the next day... so the "copycat" came to drop off his car, he saw my car, and told rob to do the pearl that he saw on my car on his car... he even pointed at it and said he wanted it exactly... the funny thing is... when his friend came to pick him up (since he was dropping off his car) copycat's friend saw my car and was like "damn your car is tight" to copycat... and rob just laughed... and copycat was forced to say.... "that's not my car"
sorry so long... neways... YEAH I HATE COPY CATS...
i wanted to get a spec blue vinyl sticker and put it on his back bumper... that said "i am unoriginal" or "copycat" something of that sort... but when i really thought bout it... everyone know's (around here) who had the first kitted celi...
sorry

Well, nobody will be able to say that I copied them. Especially since my car will have the Prototype bodykit made by my sponsor. There is no other front out there that is close to mine for the Celica. It's one of a kind. Well, at least for now. Everytime I see someone with the kit once it comes out, I will be able to say that I had the first one. And I honesty don't think someone will buy the kit, and have the same wing/wheels/hood combo as me. They might be close, but then again I am doing something to my car to make it stand out from the rest. Pics of my car are in my sig.

OH yah, i forgot to mention. MY front emblem and grill behind the emblem are painted as well. The grill is white, and the emblem is red.... he did the same thing as well. But you know what, i dont care anymore. I guess yakko is pretty much right. I'm happy with the way my car looks. And i guess that thats all that matters...
