I just ordered a set of 17" Volk LE37Ts, and was wondering what profile tire ppl are running. I told them I'd like 215/40s but if I'm wrong I can still change the order now. I read that the TRD T3 package features 215/40 series tires, so I'm assuming that my first instinct is correct. Any info would be much appreciated!

thats what id get clint. did you check the tire calculator on the "others" link on the main page? the better calculator shows the specs would be the closest to stock with those profile tires.

and if anything, youd be going a split second SLOWER than what the speedo says, so less chance of an infraction caught by the speed vans :)

yeah I did actually check the calculator yesterday... I think someone posted a link to a good one. I guess the 215/40 tire stays closest to stock, altho a slight percentage smaller than stock rolling diameter. I was thinking tho, since the 16" rim is actually an option, and the GT-S does come with 15" alloys, that there must also be a difference between those two sets of tires. I wonder if Toyota has two different speedo calibrations for either rim when equipped? I would think that the slightly smaller diameter would actually be on the beneficial rather than detrimental side. However, I don't want to increase any fenderspace between fender and tire.
Ah, guess we'll just see when they come in.

215/40 should be pretty close, i am running that profile now and think my speedo might read a mile or two faster than i am going, but definitely not a noticeable change.

kewl, thanks for the tip dude. I suppose a 205/40 would be out of the question?

don;t know why you would want to go to a skinnier tire, stick with one of these
215/40 (of course)
215/45
225/40
the 215/40 is the most aggressive (in terms of profile) i can find recommended, they look damn nice, i just don;t see the reason to push it in this case personally.

thank you very much for the info! I'm going to stick with the 215/40s! Now I just have to decide between Pirelli P7000s, Nitto NT555s, or Yokohama Paradas. I was about to settle on a set of Continental Contisports, but I've heard they wear out fast.

You're welcome!
I would suggest the Paradas or Pirellis for wear, traction, and noise. I am running the Paradas right now (same exact size) and am very happy with them. I felt they and the Pirellis were a hard choice, but liked the look of the Paradas more, so went that route.
The people I have know who bought Nittos have been dissatisfied with them for one reason or another is my only reason for deleting them from the running, so that part is just my opinion, but I think you would have a hard time NOT liking the paradas in that size, I am loving mine.
Good luck with whatever you get! I just got done going through the same decisions about 4 weeks ago.

Actually I think that the stock 15's have a taller sidewall so that they are very close to the over all diamater of the 16's, just like the 17's your talking about would be very close as well. thus there should be no real need to change spedo gears. The factory is actually allowed to be off by as much as 5% on the speedo calibration. 5% is only 5mph off when your going 100mph.
