This issue has been debated many times before on this forum. The sensors are programed to set the bags off after certain dynamic parameters are met. Many people have been in accidents when they did not deploy and the folks thought they should. In none of those that have been documented on here were those people injured, which they may have been if the bag deployed. The few time that they were deployed it seems to have been pretty intense accidents and there were still no reported injuries. In any event what exactly would you be sueing for, you were in an accident and weren't injured? How about thanking God and Toyota and getting on with life?

Yeah airbags didnt deploy in my accident and my front bumper was hanging on by 1 screw, rest was dragging on the ground.

OK, you say you crashed and no one was hurt. The airbags did not deploy.

Is your name "no one" and you WERE hurt, or do you really mean no one was hurt?

What basis would you sue on? "I was in a crash and had no injuries, but Toyota didn't protect me?"

Guess what, if the airbags deplyed you WOULD have been hurt. You would have risked permanent blindness, some degree of hearing loss ranging from temporary to permanent, cuts and scratches on the face, etc.

Air bags literally PUNCH you in the face. They break noses, they usually scratch and burn your cornea (eyeballs), they hurt. They are literally a small bomb in your steering wheel.

If they don't go off, the crash wasn't severe enough, be happy.

I know folks who have been in cars where airbags deployed. They walked away, but were hurt from the airbag and collision.

Be glad that the airbag didn't go off, I wrecked my Neon in 97 Air bag probably saved my life because It was a terrible wreck I went head on into a tree flipped multiple times, the steering wheel was like 2 inchs from my stomach after the wreck, any way, I can still remember that air bag going off it was the loudest sound and it felt like I had been running as fast as I could into a brick wall, I survived the accident with a broken finger and a lot of cuts from glass, also the skin on my right arm was BURNED OFF by the airbag I have the scars to prove it, just be glad you weren't hurt and slow down when it rains

Yes do be lucky they didn't go off. I was with my friend in his old SI when he did a header into a ditch at 60. Luckily I was sitting far enough back that I didn't even touch the airbag, but his burned all the hair off his hands and arms, they are loud as crap and you can hardly breathe afterwards cuz of all that smoke and powder crap. It sucks.

I was in my 98 corolla when a 72 year old woman in her 85 caprice classic (17 foot yacht) came off the emergency shoulder into lane of traffic on 1-77 where it turns into 1-80 in North Carolina. She was doing 25 I was doing 75 in my two week old car....The rest is history. My car was totalled her was totalled and the cop believed her. Incidentally my airbags went off and I thank God they did- I walked over to her car after we stopped and asked her how she was doing.. Airbags are good. What nobody else is saying is that if the airbags did go off in your car it would cost you another 1k a piece to replace them. Be glad they didn't.

While you are filing your lawsuit, also sue Toyota for making the Celica a turbod AWD car.

I've had the airbags go off in my old GT during the accident. But airbags deployment factors on many factors, not just the fact that you were in an accident. It all depends on speed, decelleration velocity, angle of impact etc..

Just cause u got into an accident doesnt mean the airbags should go off. Just be happy your ok and deal with it.

And no you dont have a case against toyota.
Why does everyone always want to sue everyone for their own faults?

My cousin had a 01 Accord which also had a serious frontal crash on the freeway and the airbags didn't deploy(*car was totaled*). The thing was he had a airbag blinking light coming on constantly while he was driving and he took it to Honda. They "supposedly" fix it and the light went away.....but a few weeks later he got into the accident, the front airbag didn't deploy. He currently has a lawyer and his lawyer is looking into it to see wheter or not they can sue Honda for a faulty airbag system on his Accord.

okay. i'm trying to understand u. your car hydroplaned, went off onto the sidewalk and hit a wall. there are different variables that are needed here. for example, what part of the car hit the wall? check out the link i have to the my wrecked celica. my fiance's little brother basically stole the car and wrecked it because he was really really high. the airbags didn't deploy. now if we had side airbags, then it probably would be a different story.

i completely agree with all the advice above. especially the one with all the powder that's released. if u have asthma, then it definitely would not have been good.
