my celica just decided it wanted to lose power..

have any of your celicas just all of a sudden lose power?.. cuz it happend to me this morning.. I start her up, drive around a bit and she doesn't kick as much as she used to when i sually punch the gas from 3k rpm to 4k. it just gradually threads up no matter how hard i press the gas :(.. might be something i did, but dunno what.

i also notice it when i floor the first 2 gears up to redline.. the tach just gradually goes up, and doesnt pull be back as much as before but i do feel lift.

something is definely wrong with my car, i could feel and sense it.

i'm just goin to have to bring it to people that may know what's up or else i'll be forced in bringin in to the dealer.. (and me not knowin much about cars) they could BS me to death and end up chargin much more than what the problem is. But,..... if someone knows anything i can do or try, that someone could save me a whole lotta time n money :)

if this has never happend to any of you tho, then i guess i was just tryin to vent....in the newbie zone...where it's least likely the get flamed upon :p :D

Find someone in your area with a celica a race them. If you lose really bad, you might have a problem. I think you just got use to the power and know you don't feel it as much.

that's a good idea, i'll try and find someone to race that i know i can beat or my friend which i beat pretty bad.. i wonder how much closer he's gonna get.

Slant: In the mean time I guess i'll try steetracing first when i get the chance. Then maybe dyno --pretty scared it might turn out to be like that one guys' celica here that dyno'ed 158hp with all his mods :eeks:

hm, i dont think i really said what the problem was. well, to sum it up.. my celica basically just speeds up the same no matter if i press the gas at 1/2 throttle or full, and this is at 1st or 2nd gear at LOW speeds.

any idea what may be the problem? any info will be appreciated.

Edit: and the weird thing is the CEL light doesnt even come on

are you sure it's good to do that to your car early in the morning when the engine is still cold. The engine refuses to go crazy before it's warmed up as a protection mechanism. You can wait until the needle is halfway up the temp guage and try it. Or try it in the afternoon when it's warmer and see.

My suggestion is that you get it tuned up and such. I am talking about an oil change, spark plug replacement, make sure the fluids are all full, make sure tire pressure is correct. If the problem persists, make sure the transmission is in correct working order. But, most likely, it could be that it needs a good tune up. I have heard of some cars dropping a good 10 whp when they are in dire need of a tune up. And usually, a good tune up only costs somewhere in the low $100 range.
