well i'm guessin u claim ur self, so that's why u get so much. most of my friends got back 1-2g's and a good friend even got 4700 (cuz he a single parent)

but unfortunatly my momz still claim me and one of my 3 jobs i had last year, i didn't pay tax on what i earned there. hence the 700 i gotta pay :sadpace:

I ended up paying federal and receiving money back from the state. But overall I owed about $100. Sucks. I hate the government.

I got $4 from federal... :chuckles:

Apparently there's a new tax bracket above $50K...

Well I am a college student so I don't pay income taxes, but that doesn't mean the gov let me go without a hassle. Even though I am an independant (since I was 18) and I am putting myself through college.... the gov still denied me financial aid and gave me $0 in work study money. Sons of *****es

I got 2600. Filed back in feb. and it's still in my bank account. Saving for "the ring"!

If your getting or owing more then 500$ , your exemptions or something else need to be altered.

I personally like more in my check every 2 weeks and only get back 1-300 at the end of the year...............rather then getting back a huge sum.

Think about it..........the gov had an interest free loan of that money from you for X_amount of months.

But yes i understand some peope are not discliplined with their money and the only way they can save a dime is if they set it up so they get 1 large tax return. Idiots!

i'm guessing u dont' claim ur self then, cuz if u get more than 50k, you should get atleast 1-2g's back

cuz my momz get btw 60-70k a year and she gets back 3-4k back every year

this is a not true. there is a except to that rule. it goes like this

If your a college student AND earn less than 4-6k a year, then you don't have to pay income tax

how much you make (or your bracket for that matter) isnt a measure of how much you get should expect back

Nah, dude, I'm doing what Twan is. I claimed a "2" for federal, so I get more per paycheck, but I get crap for my return.

I make approx $60K, too...however I have no claims. You get huge tax breaks for owning a house and having kids. This is why your mom gets so much money...

likewise, but both came in already. how much u get back is due to how much u have taken out, and then what ur deductions are.

by the time ur 30, u will learn to let uncle same take a little bit more than what he needs out, because u don't want to give up money in one big shot. dependents and a mortgage also will bump u down a bit.

yeah man I earn no income out here. School is in the middle of nowhere so there are no jobs besides working on campus and like I said earlier... they approved me for $0 in work study money, so working on campus was not an option. I'm living off of student loans with bad interest rates cause the government ****ed me. Being an independant since I was 18 should entitle me to some financial aid or student loans don't you think ?

I rather receive less money or pay some taxes than receive a huge refund. The govt makes interest on your money.

if i put that into my savings account, it would earn a $40 interest during the year. or i could have invested it elsewhere. either way, it's a loss, not a gain.

I got f uck ed by my previous employer...

They didn't take out the proper ammount of taxes so now I owe Federal $100 and state $30.
Had my taxes been taken out of my paycheck properly at the first job I would be getting back quite a bit because of my school loans and accrued intrest. BUt NOoooo.

Yea so add me to the pissed off list.
