hey, i am new to the board and just wanted to ask everone their opinion. what do yall think is the celica (gt-s) weekest link? i have a 1999 gsx that just hit the 36,000 mile mark and i am selling it to buy a car that is newer and under warranty. i really like the gt-s 6 speeds but need to do some research before i make my final desision. i am currently debating between a gt-s and a type-r any opinions will be very appreciated.

you came to a celica board, i dont think there will be much controversy on which car people are going to tell you to pick. The GT-S is a fu ckin awesome car, looks are amazing, handles likes it is its job, and has much pontential to be and even greater car. Id say join the fam and buy a celica.

Ok well i agree that the gt-s is a great car but the reason i was asking is to do sme research and find out some info....so can anyone give me some information about celicas....the good and the bad...especially the bad.

celica is one of the best cars that i have ever owned and i had a 98 prelude and a 94 integra gsr. Trust me you wont go wrong and it's not that i say it because i own one but i say it because i really mean it.

I live in Coppell Texas and the GSX is currently up on autotrader.

damn, i'd keep the GSX... IMO... unless it's givin you trouble...

test drive cars for yourself, that should give you the feel better then anyone else can tell you

holy sh*t man...please listen...I have friends who are in a DSM club. I have to bring the sorry ass GTS there all the time and see their 350 hp/wheel cars....KEEP THE GSX, they are getting harder to find by the day....

selling it at 35,000 miles -- youre gonna give someone ELSE the opportunity of a lifetime. Keep that car, stick a custom catless exhaust on, upgrade the turbo someday...you'll be so sorry if you get rid of it. There is alot you can do to GSXs..just look in your area for a club so others can show you...

I'd keep the GSX if I was you. If you are looking at getting a 2002 GTS, don't do it. Get a Type R instead if you can find one.

Ok you convinced me i am going to keep my car unless someone else buys it for a really good price (i.e. what i am asking on autotrader) thats enough to buy a supra. The WRX board said the same thing yall did. Hey caz do you ever go to the supra meets at 635 and Macaurthur?

if you're under 25, forget the supra, the insurance is unlivable

If you're looking for a factory warranty then the Type-R might not work. The newest you can get is a 2001 and I doubt there are any unsold ones out there. Which leaves you with a used ITR that will have the remainder of the factory warranty whatever that might be. If you're looking for a warranty you probably want a new car.
