i have my car completely stripped except for the dash and front seat, so i thought it would be a good time to do some wiring. where should i ground an amp for my subs?

What? So you mean I have more interior in my car than you?? :AF:

I would ground it to the frame rail running across the car where the milk jug holder sits. That's a nice large metal object. That's where mine is, but I also welded in 1/8" steel plates around my frame member, so I have a bit more metal to attach to.

What is your car stripped for? Pics?

Curt are you talking about the raised metal piece that runs along the floor between the rear strut trowers? how would i go about attaching the ground wire to it? this will be my first sub/amp install.

my car is stripped out for weight reduction for the drag strip. (operation 15.9)

sorry no pics.

I grounded mine to the bolt that holds down those hooks in the trunk, I used the upper left one, it worked great.

I do understand that it worked for you... HOWEVER..... just like a seat bolt that is not the best idea.. SQGT-S's idea is perfect (thats where mine is :))

Yes, that square looking piece running between the rear strut towers. You can use a large self-tapping screw to secure the wire, or drill a hole and use a bolt with a nut and lock washer on the back side. The rail across the car has oval-like holes in it, so you should be able to get your fingers in there for the nut. Just be sure to scrape the paint off in the area of contact all the way down to bare metal.

I try to tell people that, too. :chuckles: But no one believes me.

How do you figure that isnt a good idea? You can tighten a bolt down a whole lot tighter than a self tapping screw through a 1/16th of steel....
