My lift seems like its not working. I've hit lift before and I could feel a little jerk when I'm on it. But lately, I've taken my car over 6k and I can't feel anything. Should I be worried? How can I tell the difference between lift and not on lift? Any inputs would be helpful. I'm also trying to get a test drive from a friends Celica GT and check if it feels the same when its over 6k. If it does then I know there's something wrong with my car.

rjay is your car a celica gt ?

because i have a celica gt and i don't ever feel the lift

i know it gets loud at high rpms but thats it

the gt isn't suppose to give a big kick like the gts does

its like a civic si an a civic ex ... they both have vtec but one is really noticeable and one isn't

The higher you go in gear, the less perceptable the lift kickin in is. You won't get the same bang in 1st gear as say 4th gear.

If you don't feel it kicking in in 1st or 2nd gear, take the car in and get it checked - I assume its still under warranty.

a gt has vvt-i (sp?)and a gts has a vvtl-i (sp?). which means in a gt you will not a have a lift. but i had the problem in my gts and it was cause i broke a lot of crap from too many hard downshift. not a misshift but i needed a new cylinder head, new valves, and a rocker shim for the lift. did you misshift or do anything wrong driving it lately. let me know if you need anymore info.

Is that hard downshifting for racing? I haven't misshifted my car and I'm really careful when I drive it. But one thing though, about a week ago while I was getting out of the parking lot, I didn't see the curb in front of me. So I stepped on the gas lightly and the next thing I know, the left front wheel is over the curb and landed on the other side of the curb, slamming my car pretty hard over the curb. Would this cause me to lose my lift? Any inputs would be really helpful. I have no lift at all. I've hit lift before and I know how it feels but now whenever I go over 6k, it feels like my losing power. Like its hesitating to speed up. I'm really worried and I just really want to get my lift back. It is one of the reasons I got a GT-S. Thanks

My lift is working fine now. Now I have to practice my shifting and try to land in lift every shift. Hehe

I took it to the dealer last Friday and had one of the technicians test drive with me in the car. I told him that I can't feel the lift kicking in. He floored it and went over 6k. I felt lift kick in. He said that my lift was working fine. He also said that there's a throttle sensor and somehow its connected to lift. After that I test drove my car and hit lift every opportunity I get. What I found out is that the harder you step on the accelerator the more you'll feel lift kick in. I guess I wasn't stepping on the accelerator hard enough for me to feel lift kick in. Also I had that accident so I was kind of thinking that something might have been damage inside the engine. But it was working after all. I hope this clears it up.
