Yeah, that was a ton of fun, I had such a great time meeting all you guys and hanging out. Driving down with Matt (speedeeGTS) and chris (EasyC) was a blast (even tho my 2-way radio was busted) and then driving back up with chris and this random kid from e-celica in a red celi with white rims.... well, lets just say we had wayyyyy more fun than we should have on the ride back ;)
We bullied this red civic si on the highway for about 10 mins... all three of us boxed him in and wouldn't let him out.... the kid's gf was laughing... he was getting all pissed off... it was great. :evil:

alright...here's my take on the nice guy thing

Long Island mentality fuked me up, and to this day, i'm still paying for it...when i was a teen, i was fat, and ferget dating...society shunned me...i went to an all guys high school which didn't help at all...so i had no experience with women...got my FIRST gf summer of '96 before going into sophomore year college...she was a spanish girl who wanted to see what i was made of kinda on a dare from a friend of hers who said i was an arrogant snob (when in reality i was just shy and always kept to myself b/c i was fat, not popular, and shunned by society)...we hit it off well, but it was a long distance relationship (i was in PA, she was out in Suffolk County)...we were on and off for 7 years...when we were off, i was actively persuing other opportunities...what i learned was that here on the island, you had to be an a-hole to woo the chic...i went to bars, clubs, you name it, and when there was a hottie, there was an a-hole bf lurking around being, well, an a-hole...so i took a look at the a-hole and thought what about him made him stand out from everyone else...i realized he was always dressed in nice threads...so i tried that...didn't work b/c i was still fat...then i noticed they would drive nice cars...i had a nice car as well, so i tried flaunting it more...didn't work b/c i was still fat...then i noticed they would mostly be guido'ish with bulging muscles, lotsa cologne, hair gell'd, etc...so i worked out hard, lost 50 pounds, and bulked up some...still didn't work even tho i had the threads, the car, and the more attractive figure...finally i noticed they talked a lot of sh!t and acted like they owned everyone...so i tried that a lil...women started talking to me left and right...so i should be happy, right??? wrong...i was still unsatisfied b/c i stepped back and saw what i had become...one of the a-holes...so i thought to myself, "what's happened to me?? where'd i go?"

these days, i'm still cynical of relationships...i've been scarred by women in my past who i thought were genuine but turned out to be shallow, materialistic bishes out for money, sex, and status...and i can't live like that...too many times i would date a girl for a period of time, and things would be going well, and just when i begin to show her my heart, the other shoe drops, and i get my heart ripped to shreds without a care in the world...and too many times i've met women who seem to be right for me, but there's ALWAYS a catch...in all honesty, besides my ex of 7 years, there has not been 1 single woman who i've crossed paths with who has no catches, no strings attached, no issues where the relationship can grow naturally...as a result, i have become VERY protective of my heart and feelings...b/c with my lousy track record with women, why should i continue to open my heart to others??? and it's not like i completely closed off myself from the female race...it's just i'm very cautious about opening myself up, and if i do, it's lil bits at a time...i can't keep allowing myself to be so vulnerable to strangers and pull myself back together if/when i get shafted...it's too difficult...i don't want to hurt like that anymore

these days, when i'm dating, i make sure to keep my feelings closed off until i'm convinced she's genuinely interested, and even if she is, there's still a chance i won't be as forthcoming with my feelings based on the "baggage" she's bringing into the relationship...as much as it sux that i have to do that, it's what i need to do in order to maintain my sanity...one way that lets me lower my guard a lil is to keep the convo on her to get her to give some personal info first, and then i give a lil

i dunno if you guys can really understand my position, but it's the sh!ttiest deal...i want to give someone my heart...believe me i long to give all of myself lovingly to a woman and live as tho we are one person with no limits to our potential...i yearn for such a relationship...i pray to have it...i plead with myself to let go and just put myself in such a position that anyone can do whatever they want...but i just can't do it...it hurts way too much when it fails...and at this point, i'm almost expecting it to fail which is why i have no desire to put myself in a vulnerable position...if that makes me weak or a coward, then so be it...at this point, i dunno what i'll do to myself if i get hurt badly again

Hello I am in your boat!! I swear anyone I meet these days that is worthwile persuing is far away.
Maybe because of the "standards" out in this area of how people are expected to act, dress, speak etc. Everyone here walks around with sticks up their asses wondering what everyone else thinks of them, and that is the biggest thing I noticed when I moved from PA to here and now back to NJ. I'll be the first to say, I am much happier in NJ with nicer, more friendly type people. Though the as shole disease slowly seems to be seeping down the shoreline. I am not stereotyping on intention or labeling anyone in here, just venting.
Damn near every guy I have dated starts out sweet and turns into an abusive jack as s that can't tell his head from his own as s, with tude and an ego big enough to occupy half the state.
I am big with manners. Open doors for me, be extra sweet, help me carry my things and you'll win my heart easier than you will with cars, money, jewlery, taking me out to dinner and trying to dress all slick and look polished.
You can look polished and be less than polished with your attitude and demeanor. All goes back to how your mama raised ya!
Buying things do not fix problems. Holding an intelligent conversation at a level that does not involve throwing things, cursing, screaming or reffering to the other in horrible degrading ways is the way to fix things. My experience with NY and Northern NJ guys, they have tempers that are worse than a hurricane. I have NEVER been called such horrid names in my life as I have been by Long Island guys. I am not saying you are all like that but there is a real lack of respect in the ones I had set my sights on.
Steal my heart = be yourself and let your upbringing shine through, not the things you picked up off the street or from your friends.
I am also very well know for hittin the pavement with my wheels spinning as soon as I hear the word expect. Expectations are the devil. I do things out of the kindness of my heart and out of love. But as soon as you start to expect it, you can expect my as s packing and out the door. I don't expect anything from anyone. I only hope they would love me and do the same things I do for them.

i just want to be happy, and i'm exhausted that i've been on such a journey only to be constantly shot down b/c if it's not one thing, it's another

why can't i just have a simple, normal type of relationship that starts normal and just works out normally...no putting in massive amounts of effort to make it work...no waiting months and months for someone to come around and see the light...no major distance gaps...no psycho Jekyl & Hyde personalities...just a simple, BORING, lowkey, logical, common sense, good head on her shoulders girl...is that too much to ask??? honestly, is it???

that is not to much to ask at all. im super shy and when it comes to girls, i have no balls at all. i've never really had a friend who was a girl before. they've all been gf's. but when i did actually grow a set last summer and started asking girls out left and right, i got shot down every single time. having that done to me really lowered my self esteem and made me feel like sh!t, so i just gave up on asking out girls after that. and i still havent asked out another girl since then :( :sadpace:

I agree. I like a woman that can have enough =nerve to make the first move but subtle enough to not come on too strong.
Plus I like a girl who is in touch with her sxuality and is confortable pleasing herself...But thats another story :)

You guys should've started a new thread on this topic. i can't believe how off-topic this therad went. :D There's a lot of emotion in here. I'll try to keep this brief, but I know I won't.

I'm glad I'm not one of these a-hole guys from LI, I dont even consider myslef from LI growing up in queens for 21+ years. I like some tried the a-hole thing once my heart was broken but I too didn't like who I became. So I just became myself again, I made myself happy agaian, and the girls saw that. I talked with a smile, and I was confident. not confident that I could get them, but confident that i was myself, and if they didn't like that well they wern't worth the time anyway.

Viola, Liz, Krysy, from what I can tell, and see, you girls are all a good catch. I'm sure you girls have your baggage as we all do at this age, but you girls don't seem the type to rip a man's heart out once he has given it to you and you have given him yours. Even though Viola is evil and Krysy has that :evil: thing going on in her siggy. :D Give it time, I know that's hard, but I am sure good things will happen to you in the end. :)

As for you guys, you're right nice guys finish last, but it's when you are trying the least is when good things WILL undoubtedly happen. After reading your stories it brought back a lot of painful memories, and it made me realize how lucky I was to find my current g/f cuz she has no games, no strings attached. The only thing she is, which i have told Chris (easyC) many times before is she's extremely jealous, and I can live with that since she's damn near perfect in every other category. Score one for the nice guys. Trust me guys, it will happen, one day, just don't sweat it as much as you do.

haha, good man Matt, good man! Yeah well she has baggae too, but it's not the bad kind. It didn't fvck her up or anything. She was engaged before we started dating. Yeah, its crazy I know (being that she was only 18 at the time). Anyway, he was your typical low life. Sold drugs, did graffitti, did every drug imaginable, wouldn't let her hang out with her friends (guys or even girls, for real), and didn't give her the attention and love that she needed.

Then I came along, after a few months of being friends we hooked up and she ended it with her man. Now ordinarily I dont go for those that have B/F's but this guy was an obvious loser. She was so sweet and innocent it actually kind of frightened me that this girl was for real. I couldnt bare to hear the stories about him anymore.

All she wanted was one guy who could treat her right, and she was worried that she wouldnt find anyone who wanted to be with her, so she settled for him. She is so faithful it's unbelieveable. She doesn't drink, smoke, go out to bars or clubs. She hates sluts, and anything realted to it, i.e. Cancun Spring Break, LOL :D She hangs out with her girlfriends but she doesnt really have guy freinds because the aforementioned ex didnt let her have any. So her guy friends are my friends cuz we all used to work together at one point.

You guys showed me how lucky I really am, because I momentarily forgot how hard it was to be single. Thank you. :)

Hehehe, it's funny cuz I never wnet to Cancun before but my friends are planning to go spring break of '05. I'm trying to convince her to come but I dunno, it's a fight in the making already. :gap: She's getting better though with the whole, "I hate "dolla holla hoes" cuz they will try to steal you away", mentality she has. :D

damnit stop bashing Long Island guys, just cause a guy is from LI doesnt mean hes a typical *******, alot has to do with his family, if he had everything handed to him hell probably take everything for granted including a relationship, i was born and bread on LI and i worked hard for everything i have and am considered by my peers to be nice and down to earth, and thats probably the reason ive been single the majority of my grown life, and currently single. ive learned not to look for a relationship because thats when you find the wrong people to fill a void, when something is right it just happens, i think most genuine kind hearted people have a hard time finding a good relationship because they tend to shy, and theyre not your typical outgoing player. oh well my.02

Another problem i encounter sometimes is the "I dont want to totally loose her" thing. There can be a girl that i am close with, but its not at that serious level. I know there is a chance we could have more but im scared if i make a move she will not go for it and i might end up loosing her totally. Thats one of my major problems as well.

it definitely is cool! but i think i would do the same thing with my girl. i wouldnt do anything to make her feel uncomfortable. damn, im too much of a nice guy! LOL!

And once in a relationsip, I have realized time and time again that this is when girls start becoming attrracted to you, because

1) they see they you can handle a relationship.
2) they know they can't have you.
3) they are attracted to you because you are not trying to get with them, and they hate that.
