Call this number and all the questions will be asked.(1-818-994-7087) Its does not affect the vvtl-i at all. Stock motor max psi is at 6 with a 80hp increase. None stock motor with lowered compression max psi 21 with 450 hp increase. They have a stage 1-3 kit for gt-s. The stage 3 kit is 3,800 so you can kind of guess that the stage 1and 2 are cheaper.

When I called Turbo Performance- 1-818-994-7087 (sometime in January), they said that they weren't gonna start working on the Celica Turbo Kit until April. I don't think they're gonna come out at the end of this month (It would be a nice surprise, though). I'll call 'em again to get an update.

I called them today and they said that there are already celicas running their turbos. They aren't going to start selling until after Hot Import Nights in LA. So the kits are ready to go. From what they said there is no ecu upgrade, it's gonna be all mechanical. I am thinking about heading to hot import nights and checking everything out.

Isn't the HIN in LA sometime in July??!! Why the heck would they wait till that show to start selling the kits if they are already done? Doesn't make sense to me.

phillytec and fourgig,
I not totally sure, but I think Hot Import Nights is in July. Maybe they want to run their turbo on some Celicas for a few months to gauge the reliability of their product.

My friend is actually going to the shop this coming week because he's goin home for spring break and the place is like 5 minutes from his house. He's going to check everything out and get some more info about the turbo straight from the source. I'll post more info after he gets back.

Anyone ever heard of this company's products on any other cars? Are they good and reliable?

Allright- just got off the phone with Damon, they are selling stage 1 and 2 kits, the difference being intercooler, the stage 2 w/intercooler all parts is 3400. The turbo used is a Garett T3, so future t3/t4 hybrid possibilities are endless.

He said they feel safe street use is at 6psi on a stock engine which yields mid 70 horsepower gains at the wheels.

He also explained that the people who funded the R&D on this turbo setup want to be able to show their cars with the turbo at HIN before it goes to retail, so they are respecting those wishes, but he assured me the kits are already ready and they will have stock on hand to ship by the end of April.

For install they said the better part of 4000. ouch. anyways, as far as internal build up and all goes, individuals would have to contact them directly to discuss possibilities and cost.

I have some other notes here as well, but don't want to write a novel, but basically this kit is not cheap, and they acknowledge this, but also claim they will have warranty in place by end of April and feel they have a solid setup that as is will not blow motors to hell.

I feel this is a good door to open, as it gets a garett setup in the car that can be boosted ALOT harder with engine build-up, or even changed to a hybrid later. Only thing is a 70 whp gain is hard to see for 7400, but at the same time, how fast will a ~275hp celica be?

Thats ridiculous. Installs should not cost more then the kit itself. max price for install should be $2000, even thats expensive.

Might as well get the XS kit for cheaper.

Sounds great, but as with everything else, I hope to see some pics, dynos, etc. of their turbo kit before I get too interested in this project. So far, we have some good claims, but that is about it.

I agree, when I spoke to him he said that there are shops in my area (Colo) that he knows will do the install for less, so I am curious on this point as well since I was under the same impression you were as far as a price ceiling of more like 2000 for install, maybe buying the kit form them and having a local shop install it will prove to be a solution, anyhow, as Keyshawn said,

we need;
pics
dyno
more pics
warranty/reliability info

Truthfully, dont they call this a bolt on? How hard would it be to do this? Ive got a huge ass garage full of tools for my dad's car restorations complete with engine puller and engine mount, if I had to I could even pull the engine out, hehe. If I studied everything is it possible to do yourself?

Does anyone have the specs for each turbo kit? What type of exhaust manifold? Any changes to the fuel setup? Don't tell me they're using the stock ECU......more info please.

atehrani-they said they will use the stock ECU-as for your other questions, get of your arse and give them a call.

When I called them up they told me that the install was only going to be about 400 hundred dollars. I know i'm a new guy and you guys don't take my word for it, but that's what i heard.

I've spoken with several shops about the cost of installing a turbo, they ranged from 500-700. This is from Racing TRENZ in denver, co. Of course, they still say they have a turbo available for my car too, so i'm not sure how much to trust them.

I haven't heard anything good about any of the performance shops in Denver. Especially don't go to Paragon tuning, they will really rip you off. Better off installing it yourself and posting questions on the internet.

Well, let's see if this really happens. I'm crossing my fingers. Turbo Performance's Celica Turbo Kit (both GT and GT-S) is set to debut at the SEMA International Auto Salon on April 19-21, 2002 at the Long Beach Convention Center. This show WILL be open to the public. If you want to contact Turbo Performance, go to their website for contact email addresses: http://www.turbo-performance.com/

For more info about the SEMA show, go to: http://www.sema.org/content/?id=25090

What size is the turbo does it come with the Turbo-Performance kit for Celica GTS? Do you guys think running 7 psi is way too high for our car ? Does the kit come with intercooler? What size?

fastest1
03-29-2002, 07:41 AM
in this case it is a greddy T2, stage 1 no intercooler, stage 2 does have an intercooler. If you are this interested then why don;t you people call them and ask?

i don;t mean to be a d1ck, but i am getting pissed listening to all the whiney people on here who want to know everything but can't even pick up a phone to find out. thank you for calling as well keyshawn.

if everyone on here who has asked questions would call, (or at least read the whole thread) turbo performance would know what kind of interest there is and also probably be very responsive to whatever they want.

I have seen a couple of really dump posts up above from people being skeptical about this kit, those same people have not done a damm thing to find out about what they are b1tching about even.

point is; if you have questions and are actually serious about wanting a turbo, call the GD company. The person I spoke to was very polite and answered all of my questions without hesitation. He also readily offered to research shops that he would recommend to do the install work in my area. In addition, he mentioned that they are very willing to also build whatever u want from this kit.

if u just want to b1tch and moan please just save the rest of us the trouble and stop posting.
