What would be the more efficient intake system, short ram or cold air?

efficient as in what.
if you want more power go with a CAI intake

[n7], this question is debatable. The shape and lengths of the pipes of the two styles of intakes really affect the way they perform. Since the CAI has a really long pipe the air picks up greater velocity than a short ram which would theoretically give you greater gains in torque. The really short pipe of the short rams should be able to supply the engine with a greater volume of air which would theoretically give you greater gains in HP when compaired to a CAI. The short ram, however, is limited in the fact that it is pulling in hot air from the engine bay while the CAI is pulling in cooler air, which means that it is more dense. Since the CAI pulls in cold dense air, and dense air carries more oxygen than the hot air, the CAI should not have to supply the engine with the same amount of volume of air to get the same performance. So even though the short ram can supply more air than the CAI, the CAI doensnt need to supply as much air because the air that it is supplying is "more effecient".

On dyno's, CAI's seem to always give you greater HP and lbft of tourque when compaired to a short ram. The choice is up to you. I went with a Blitz SUS short ram intake on my car.
