Ummm... WTF?
I thought the blitz SC was destined for the 2ZZ - not the izzy.
Hrm.
Now I'm very curious...

My thoughts exactly. celicauk provide details please.

Firstly its not the Blitz kit, its a totally new system which has been custom built for my car in a way that the company who made it can offer it as a kit, this is why it took four months to develop, and no I didn't post every detail along the way so its a nice surprise for you guys :)
On my car the SC is running up to 10psi, I have however had the compression lowered (8.86:1) by having the pistons and head modified. The kit form will be offered initially as a 5~6 psi system I think but it is easily upgradable for more psi.
The SC runs its own oil cooler system as it has a built in oil pump, I have a small oil cooler mounted in the front, I'll put up some more pics later.
For more details on the kit price and availability I suggest you contact Stealth Systems (DynamicNick@hotmail.com) for the info, they are the company doing the work.
Cheers

Looks good, celicauk. Having those pics up is the best way to silence any skeptics (including me). Props and kudos to you.

Good job! That install looks GREAT!
I wonder how much it will cost to get that kit shipped to the US?

If it's imported from the UK, it's gonna cost A LOT.

hey guys have you seen the oil cooler in the front. my question is shouldnt there be an intercooler right there?
celicauk
03-10-2002, 02:17 PM
I am considering an intercooler for mine but as yet I am not sure its really needed. I have taken the car out and driven it as hard as you can to 4k but the pipes just don't get hot.
The oil cooler is there for the SC so the charger is being kept nice and cool, its a seperate oil system to the engine.
Of course once its run in and I start tuning I may well find that I need an intercooler, for now though my wallet is in pain and needs to rest :)
The other things I will probably do to help cooling are:
Oil cooling for engine
Oil cooling for transmission
Water injection
I will do these before I fit an intercooler.

mmmm simon how much power do you have right now? did you do any modifications to the tranny?
I guess the cruise control is gone.
How long did it take to install?
I gotta hear what it sounds like, please post a clip.
Thanks,

you gonna dyno it?
celicauk
03-10-2002, 10:48 PM
At the moment I have no idea of the power output, I do know its a LOT. There is definitely a hell of a lot more torque than as stock even with poor fueling.
I can't dyno it until I have run it in, I had the compression lowered at the same time so I have to run in new pistons etc for the first 1000 miles, then service it. I can then fit new injectors and the Haltech ECU and start tuning.
Amazingly the current ECU and fueling is keeping up very well. I can't go over about 4000 rpm at the moment but it certainly seems able to supply the fuel, I have an A/F gauge and it shows the car is running well, and so far no discernable misfire.
Take a look at my website linked below in the modifications section there is a part for the supercharger, gives a bit more detail.
In the meantime, if you guys are really interested in getting one of these you need to contact Stealth Systems (dynamicnick@hotmail.com) , I don't want to give prices for the kit as I am nothing to do with this company other than being one very happy customer, you need to mail them now and let them know you are interested, perhaps if a few of you are ready then a bulk order will be cheaper (less carriage), I don't know but if you don't ask you won't get :)
Fitting time for the SC, well I got to the garage on Saturday about 10am, and everything was up and running by about 6pm so fitting took about 8 hours, however included in that time was the making and welding up and polishing of the pipe work and painting of the bracket, oh yeah, and I had to go drive round for a bit to find a long enough drive belt, on the other hand the oil cooler was already mounted.
BTW - the engine work on mine was done as I am running a higher boost (10psi) than the kit these guys are offering, don't let the work thats gone in to mine put you off.

BTW - My car didn't have cruise control but I have seen its mounting and I reckon with a little wangling around you could get the actuator mounted.
And I'll try and figure a way to record the sound, it really is incredible. I was up a t 4:30 this morning and I'm still smiling.

Would this fit on a GT-S? With the stock pistons and the S/C running only 5psi I get the compression inside at about 218psi on a GT-S, which is a little more then your 212psi. If your stock internals hold up fine to 212psi I see no reason why the GT-S internals wouldn't hold up to 218psi with 5psi of boost or 230psi with 6 psi of boost. Just a thought, I just got curious after I ran the numbers :)
BTW, I am using 14psi as the atmospheric pressure just to make the numbers nicer :)
I am not sure what the relationship between pressure in the cylinder and horsepower/torque is, but I am sure that with lift the GT-S would make very good use of that extra air. Maybe someone else can run those numbers for us.
I, like some others probably, would be totally satisfied with a S/C set-up that is relatively inexpensive that would make our GT-S's put down something around 220hp at the wheels and give me something like 200ft/lbs of torque (I don't know if this would be possible though, would a S/C increase torque that dramatically?). If somebody could release a kit that could do this and not be some outrageous price I could definately see myself getting one.
So far Celica UK's set-up seems the most appealing to me. The Blitz looks like a little too much for my taste, but something like Celica UK's got is very attractive to me. I am not sure of the exact details of adding an S/C to a car, but just judging by appearances, it doen't really look like that bad of an install to do yourself (minus the pistons) if it were a kit.
This has been my $0.02 :D

Hello there from the UK :)
I'm seeing this kit in action on Saturday, there's a meet in East Sussex for Jap performance cars, and everyone from the US is more than welcome (cheap flight to Gatwick airport only about 200$ return... cmon, treat yourself!)
While I'm there, I shall be pointing a digital camcorder in the direction of this all, so keep checking www.celica-club.co.uk next week for the sound AND visuals of this apparently cracking piece of equipment!

Rotrex. Details at (unsurprisingly) www.rotrex.com
I've posted up a realvideo version of that clip of the SC: http://www.stephengrant.com/celica7/video/Bolney_SC_300k.rm

That's not their webpage, it's http://www.roulunds-rotrex.com/rotrex/index.htm
another link here: http://www.civinco.com/newpage1.htm
rotrex is a twin-screw centrifugal supercharger from what i've been able to figure out. With some sort of "high-speed gear system" that enables their superchargers to reach a max of 120,000 rpm!, and have less parasitic effect on the engine than a roots or standard centrifugal. interesting. anyone have any more tech info on this design?

Unfortunately not, the chips in my ECU where the wrong ones so I have had to ask Haltech to send me another set over. Our cars have a Motronic type crank sensor and the E6K requires a different set of Microporocessors to handle that. Bit of an arse really but they should be here by mid week so I might just be able to get the car running again soon, then it will be on to the Dyno as soon as and I reckon I'll take it over to Santa Pod here in the UK early May.
Fingers crossed.

Its not that simple. When you add boost to an engine you're adding heat, even with an intercooler. Too much heat and you get detonation/knock. This is what limits the ability to boost a car, rarely is it the internals of an engine. To give you an example of the cylinder pressure under combustion, if you were producing 200ft-lbs of torqe from a 4 cylinder engine the cylinder/walls/head would see 200*12/2 or 1200psi of pressure. When you get knock, your piston or head could get hit with a shot at 12,000psi... so which one do you think causes you to crack a piston in half? :)
