Ok, i've heard about it before, but i dont know for a fact, because i have not tested it myself.
Is it true that you cannot run a boss headunit without boss speakers, and vise versa, u cannot run boss speakers without a boss headunit.
I have heard that u CAN, but u will either burn the headunit or burn the aftermarket speakers. it has to do with the impeadence level or somthing. Can someone clear me up on this?

As far as I know, a Boss deck can be used with anything, and the speakers can be used with anything.

do you mean Bose?? because then you would be correct the voltage and method of transmission with Bose h/u's does not allow you to use other speakers and the Bose speakers will not sound optimal without a Bose H/U

Bose, yes. Boss is just like anyother headunit/speaker company. Back in the day I hit 134db with a Boss 500watt amp. Imagine if my soundstream hadn't fried the week prior.

The Bose 301 and like series speakers will function off of a not Bose H/U in the house, they will not function at their peak level but will work. The problem with their auto speakers as well as their lifestyle speakers is they are designed to send the same wave twice in a fraction of a second, that is what causes it to be so crisp. if you were to do this with a normal speaker it would destroy the voice coil and over time the speaker would fail.

i see. so it will function like a normal speaker on a sony stereo because of single wave, but maximum performance from bose because it delivers the double. i wish the salesman would of told me that. they were $500 speakers.

Haha, no... I used to work at Circuit City, but now I'm at Cambridge SoundWorks. Both places of employment enjoy healthy amounts of bose-bashing ;)

i could see the bashing against those lame tiny bose speakers advertised for home theater, but not against the good quality floor speakers.
when i tested them at the store they sounded better than the others in the price range. *shrug*

Bose is really expensive, but it is just the same as paying 10 bucks for a skinny crack whore or paying 100 bucks for a virgin with huge breasts and a killer ass....what i am trying to say is that no other speaker on the market will give you the clarity of bose and that is what people pay for

when it comes to audio "best" is a very subjective word. its safe to say however BOSE is not the best, they are good speakers for the price, but they are rivaled by polk audio, cambridge which are in the same price range, any true audiophile will tell you that these speakers are subpar to handmade speakers like scan-speak, my brother has them in his home theater setup and they are easily the most detailed speaker i ever heard (and ive heard alot of speaker setups including sony IMAX theaters)

Dude, trust me, there are plenty of companies out there that can offer systems much better sounding than the bose system at a substantially lower price. To use your analogy, it would be like paying 100 bucks for a hooker who looks good but is a lousy lay.
Or paying 60 bucks for a hooker who isn't the hottest chick in the world, but she sure can phuck.

Yeah, I blew a Bose system at a store down in the Carolina's. They had a Bose store with all Bose equipment. So I took my judging CD for my car shows in with me, and played a few tracks. Needless to say, the speakers were blown after I played track 5. And BTW, that is the first system that I killed with that CD. From there I move onto my drum-track CD which will kill the majority of un-modified stereos. Yeah, the Bose didn't make it that far.
