:werd:
That truck may have a beast of a motor but you always have to consider the weight. If you double the hp on a truck, let's say 600HP, then you would see some more reasonable times...
its just that i work at a huge car dealership and when i drove em it was pretty damn badass, maybe it was just the torque i was feeling... felt faster than my car

My friend has an 86 Monte Carlo SS, and it's got lots of torque since it's a V8. It feels like it could kill my car off the line, but it's at least 8 seconds 0-60.
Hemis aren't THAT great.
They're comparable to LS1s, but the cars they stick 'em in are so damned heavy

Well since we're talkin about Hemis, how quick is the Durango since it has the Hemi? 14s/15s?

Well since we're talkin about Hemis, how quick is the Durango since it has the Hemi? 14s/15s? It's probably just as fast, or possibly slower if the interior adds enough weight over the truck. They're build off the same chassis, I believe.

Have you guys even looked at the Dodge site?
500hp - 525ft lbs of torque
0-60mph in 5sec
The standard CORRECTED 1/4 mile times are 13.6 to 13.8 and usually around 105 or mph.
It's not a sportscar, but it is a sportTRUCK!

Sorry guys, I'm an idiot!
I just noticed that this wasn't for the SRT/10, but rather the Hemi.

So, is it cause the combustion chamber looks like a "hemisphere"? It doesn't seem that different to me other than the heads seem to have an exaggerated curvature... does it make that much of a difference? Thanks for the response Blue.

Yes, it makes a HUGE difference. What the design allows is a near perfect placement of the sparkplug (plugs in the case of the new hemis, they have two per cylinder) and it makes a nice swirl of the air fuel mixture creating more power during combustion. And I believe that the modern Hemi engine is making 345hp, not 300.

my friend has a new durango.. with HEMI & AWD.. it "feels" like it would beat my old celica GT-S from a STOP.. accelerates pretty quick and fast from the line..
