Hi everyone, i'm in the process of learning to drive a stick and i finally had a chance to hop into a celica at the dealer. here is my question w/ the celica tranny. when i put it to neutral, the stick seemed to center itself between 3rd and 4th, is that normal? This happend when i was approaching a red, i clutched, pushed from second to neutral, and came to a stop. and when the light turned green, i clutched, pushed up thinking it was 1st but it ended up in 3rd? so i stalled the car haha, how embrassing. i cruised on the freeway for a bit, got into 5th and 6th and noticed that the stick is way to the right, more than i am used to. I tried a RSX and did notice that the tranny is a bit crisper and smoother. i am not sure if the tranny on the celica i test drove was just a bit stiff or what, but it took more effort to go through the gears. but i can see how some would like it more "stiff"
finally, is it okay on the tranny to shift through the gates while the engine is off? and is it okay to do it without pressing down on the clutch? Thanks in advance!
