View Full Version : How can you tell between different Injen CAI generations?

Just as the topic says, is there a way you can tell the difference between the 3 different generations of the Injen CAI? I'm about to buy an Injen CAI by someone through online but when I asked him what generation it is, he just said it was new and he bought it at a store? What question can I ask to see if it's the 3rd gen or not. Like is the ISBN number different? Is the original box that it comes with different or what? Thanks a lot.

1st an 2nd gen looks almost identical.. hard to really tell you waht your lookig for but the welds on the 2nd gen are better then the 1st gen.. the 3rd gen is completley different where as it has a BIG red coupling that comes off the thottle body versus a little one that the 1st and 2nd gen comes with.. the 3rd gen also makes it so you have to cut your ECU tube to get it back in place

i also noticed that the 3rd gen filter is aimed upward versus the 1st and 2nd aim down...

You forgot the most important difference! The 3rd generation fits autos!

they all fit autos.. just was a different intake for the 1st and 2nd gen for the auto/6spd.. the 3rd gen sme intake fits both

dunno.. never done a dyno of each of them
