Hello, my name is Scott i live in Florida, USA.

Well, im only 14, im not sure if others here are as young as I, but as soon as I hit 16 years of age, im buying a celica. And i just wanted to ask a few questions.

Wats better a GT, or a GT-S and whats the difference?
And what color should i get my celica, i know i have a good 2 years, but they will come fast.

I plan on doing everything to my Celi!

Welcome.

The main difference is the engine. The GT-S has a 180hp engine, while the GT gets a 140hp engine. But the additional power only helps if you opt for the manual transmission.

If you want an automatic tranny, the GT would be a better choice.

Of course, I expect a redesigned Celica to be introduced in the next year or two, which means this data won't necessarily apply to a brand new Celica by the time you're shopping for a car.

But what would be a good color, well, you dont race a automatic, so im probly going to get a manual so i can street race. But im not sure.

And also, wats a good website to look at bodykits for a celica.

the last thing we need is teenage streetracers
take it to the drag strip

Try to avoid silver, this color is too common. Color should be your preference anyway!

You probably won't like black in hot florida. Blue and silver are common but if you like the color, you like the color. You probably want to stay away from a gts. Higher ins., more potential problems with the engine, and preminum fuel requirement could be taxing.

yea, well im going to get the GT. And most likly that nice blue. Becuase the neighborhood across the street from mine, some girl has one, and she has a body kit and all on it, and it looks so good, but then again i always liked silver. Im not sure. Red looks nice too on a celica.

And i live in like central florida, and i know where everyone street races, my sisters ex used to race their with his car, it was crazy, he had everything in his car.

And since it will be my first car, most likly it will be a automatic, but im not certain. I do know how to drive a shift, but im lazy. LOL

Don't get a auto. Autos are the slow even by economy car standards. I never really like red because it seems to fade away when your waxing. Just to repeat, don't go auto.

he's right, you will regret buying an auto. taking the time to learn stick is well worth it

Quit knocking the auto!!! I have an auto GT-S and she works just fine for me. Since this would be his FIRST car, I would definitely not recommend trying to learn on a 6-speed GT-S (I know he said hed get a GT, but thats still two years away) Many a transmission have been blown by even EXPERIENCED stick drivers...but I should also add, I commute in my car, not play, so a 6-speed over 50 miles a day would be a pain in the ass. Apparently, when the GT-S is auto, it loses horsepower; I'd never know it. I've never had a problem "beating" a light, lane change, highway merge, etc. It has more than enough power for everyday driving challenges. Whenever I punch it, it downshifts on its own. And it has the sports shift, so if I want to, say, pass on a one lane road, I can control when the car shifts back up to 4th.

On another note, my dad had an '87 300ZX; he said it was only ~110 hp. w/ a V6 engine. Any 4-cyl. w/ 140 will do its job. Besides, if you race it, you wont have it long anyway.

Depends If I had to go through 50 miles of up hill bumper to bumper traffic I'd probably want a auto but free way miles in a stick is nothing. Most of those mis shifts are with 6-spd drivers and he wants a gt and while a auto gts feels decently peppy when you consider how many economy cars (or even the gt model) can beat and edge it out with less ins. on regular fuel it just doesn't seem worth it.

i like my auto, but when you get to drive someone else's manual (i've gotten to drive a couple celi's, tegs, and a 350z) you will hate your car because of how slow it is.

On a side note, would you guys be interested in buying a "Calvin" sticker peeing on the words "Street Racing" decal?

"Viper Armed"....do you ever think the "you are too close to the vehicle" draws attention TO the car? Personally, most cars w/ that alarm, I wouldnt even notice when passing, but when the car starts demanding I move away, it makes me want to kick it...

when I was 14, I was a freshman in highschool; I spent most of my time trying to figure out why they would put the pool on the 4th floor...and at 16, I drove my moms Bonneville (91). I could fit 17 people in that thing...

I know some parts of FL are back woods, but are there not FEDERAL laws that require at least a drivers license to drive a motor vehicle? BMX racing doesnt count. and track racing is very different than street racing. i pity the poor family in a minivan that your dumbass smashes into at 14 w/ no license or insurance. i hope you have alot of $$$ or a dad w/ dirty politicians in his pocket. im surprised you havent killed yourself sooner in life.

if u get a celi get a manual.. and if u streetrace do it where there is no cars.. also drive for a few yrs and then tell yourself you like to streetrace... u should get some experience before u venture into this realm... and my first car was a manual (autos are so ez).mazda 626 1986 140k miles on it... learned on that piecee fore a year.. then i got my celica gts and i am happy.

Dont forget your X amount of days in jail, wondering why you even decided to "street race." that game you want to play isnt fun and have killed a lot of friends, fathers, mothers, children. Street race in your driveway.

umm its 100% legal for me to race on this track. As long as i am 14 years of age. And i am a excellent driver, like my family says, if i had a car now, and it was all tinted, no cop would pull me over, the only reason would be is because he would see me and think i was young, thats why tinted windows.

It seems that alot of you dont like me, well i am sorry, im just a newcomer that likes celicas, so theres my apology.

You can't say your a good driver because youve been driving for a few months. Its experience that makes a good driver. Just because youve never been in a wreck doesn't mean it makes you a good driver. Hell, most people learn from EXPERIENCE from the wreck they were in, that's what makes a good driver.
And cops will pull you over if tint is too dark.

noone dislikes you, but we can tell from the statements that you make that youre wet behind the ears. it is frustrating for many, because many on this board take great pride in their cars, but you seem to just want to get one and tear it up and destroy lives. "street racing" is just straight up stupid. and comments that reflect that you have no respect for the people you SHARE the road with or the machine you control reflect that your just, no disrespect intended, a dumb kid. racing on a track is completely different from racing in a road. so what are you going to do when youre street racing, and a family turns into the road out of a side street. youre going 100 mph, theyre going 25...can you do the math to figure out how many seconds you have before your radiator is sitting on your lap, your left arm is 40 yards back on the ground, and youve just killed two small children, a dad, and seriously injured a mother???? just something to think about next time you want to buy a 180 Hp "race" car...

ps. if your parents let you drive when you were 11, theyre just as ignorant as you...so perhaps its isnt your fault; youre a product of your environment....
