what is safe 1156 bulb wattage (headlight turnsignal bulb) ?

the stock turn signal bulb is not 1156. it is "PY21W" and is rated at 21 watts.
1156 is rated at 27 watts

man now im all messed up ,i could have sworn the headlight turn signal bulb was a 1156 bulb atleast thats what every one told me? Will both work?

1156 will wokr you just have to cut off one of the tabs i beleive. There are two metal tabs protruding out opposite sides of the bulb and you need ot shave one off to be able to fit the bulb in the socket. Atleast that is what i did.

I thoght that was the 1157 that you needed to do that to?

Sinc:Kenny Heiser Nope, 1157 has two bumps on the bottom, since it's a dual filament bulb. I don't think it works properly as a signal bulb.

Nope, 1157 has two bumps on the bottom, since it's a dual filament bulb. I don't think it works properly as a signal bulb.

You don't even have to grind or sand one of the tabs. Just put the first tab in so the bulb is at an angle and then the second tab just slides right in. Figured it out with my chrome signal bulbs.
