I find it really useful when braking in snow

I don't know about you guys, but it just wears the tranny faster if you do that.

I downshift when I slow down, nothing bad will happened. It won't damage your tranny also because I have my dealer serviced my tranny and everything is just fine. Just don't down shift from 4th gear all the way to 1st gear, it could damage your valve. Also, if your gonna downshift when slowing down, from 4th gear make sure your RPMs are below 3500/3000 then downshift to 3rd.

I read an article about this about 2 months ago it said that you shouldn't ever downshift in an auto, when you force the tranny to downshift it can overheat the transmission thus harming it. They said that the only need to use the 3, 2 positions on the shifter is to hold the car in a gear, not use it as if it is a manual, But if you have a sport shift that is a different story their is no reason why you can't push the button to have it down shift, that's what its made for,

You really won't be able to damnage or wear out any gears much when downshifting with the sportshift-it'll only downsift when it hits the right rpm's anyway. If you try and downsift from a high rpm it'll beep twice each time you hit the downshift button.

Im sure its allrite to downshift with the sport shifter.. why would toyota add a [down] unless they knew it wouldnt damage yor tranny... besides its in the warranty, just in case u damage it.. they'll fix or replace it.. well thats what mins says hehe...
